🎉 Announcing the September 2025 Monthly Art Award Winner — Doğu Özorhan!

Born and raised in Ankara, Turkey, Doğu’s artistic journey began among the sounds and stories of the opera house, where his parents—both musicians—sparked a lifelong connection to performance and expression.

His winning work, Slow Burn in Blue, captures a moment of deep introspection. Bathed in cool light, the photograph explores isolation, stillness, and the slow unfolding of thought — a visual meditation on emotion and time.

Now based in Sarasota, Florida, Doğu merges film, photography, and sound to create art that transcends boundaries — earning recognition across continents for his bold, contemplative storytelling.

✨ Exclusive Interview with Gaya Lastovjak — 12th Edition 2nd Place Winner ✨

In our latest artist interview, Gaya shares the inspiration behind her winning three-dimensional painting "Isolation".

“The work was inspired by observing human behavior. It raises the issue of an increasingly dismissive approach to other people… Covered eyes and mouth show our unwillingness to engage, as many choose the virtual world over real connection.”

Through texture, symbolism, and emotion, Gaya’s work powerfully examines the barriers we build between ourselves and the world around us.

🏆 3rd Place Winner – Boynes Artist Award 12th Edition 🏆

We are delighted to announce Sharon Harms (Nashville, Tennessee) as our 3rd Place Winner with her captivating oil painting, In Search of the Muse.

Medium: Oil on canvas
Size: 40 x 30 inches

This work offers a window into the artist’s creative process. Using the symbolism of everyday objects, Sharon explores the journey from thought to reality—where inspiration emerges and the artist must find the confidence to commit it to canvas.

Raised in rural Michigan, Sharon began her career as an award-winning advertising art director before transitioning full-time to painting in 2020. Known for her hyper-realistic still lifes, her art merges instinctive expression with refined technical precision. Her work has been exhibited internationally and featured in publications including Artists Magazine, Create!, and Studio Visit Magazine.

Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

✨ 2nd Place Winner – Boynes Artist Award 12th Edition ✨

We are proud to announce Gaya Lastovjak (b.1987, Krakow, Poland) as our 2nd Place Winner with her striking three-dimensional painting, Isolation.

Medium: Mixed media — paper mache, rope, canvas & oil paint
Size: 100 x 73 x 9 cm

Isolation reflects on the increasingly dismissive approach to human connection. Its prison-bar-like structure symbolizes separation, while the covered eyes and mouth highlight barriers to direct presence — a powerful commentary on how many, especially youth, retreat from reality into the virtual world.

Gaya is a contemporary figurative artist known for her unique white three-dimensional paintings, a sculptural approach that explores themes of loneliness, oppression, perception, empathy, and the dual nature of humanity. Her works replace color with shadow, creating tension between gravity of theme and harmony of form.

Congratulations, Gaya, on this incredible achievement!

✨ Historic First – Boynes Artist Award 12th Edition ✨

We are proud to announce Maxwell G. Miller as the 1st Place Winner of the Boynes Artist Award 12th Edition!

This is a milestone moment — Maxwell is the first artist in our history to win 1st Place twice, having also won the 8th Edition.

His winning work, Dawn on the Shores of Creation (Oil on linen, 30x30"), is the visual culmination of his creative philosophy. Through imagery drawn from cultures, religions, and spiritual traditions, the painting reflects on the purpose of creation itself. From the striding herons to the 10 arms bearing tools of creation, each element radiates outward from a glowing center — as if the entire scene were birth. 🌅

🏆 As 1st Place Winner, Maxwell receives:

A share of the $15,000 Prize Pool

A double-page spread in Create! Magazine

A $3,000 Social Media Ad Campaign

Global promotion, interview & more

Congratulations, Maxwell — and thank you for making history with the Boynes Artist Award.

✨ New Interview: July Monthly Art Award Winner – Ana Schmidt

“I discovered the beauty of these topophobic places, where traces, footprints and the stories on the walls are elements of a collective identity. They open up the possibility of experiencing the city in a more playful, creative and critical way.” – Ana Schmidt

Ana’s winning work, In Search of the Lost Place, captures abandoned and transformed urban landscapes, balancing history, myth, and rebirth. In our latest interview, she shares how dérive — the act of drifting through the city — has shaped her artistic practice.
