The Durga Chronicles may have had its grand moment on stage, but what truly made it shine were the hard work and preparation that happened behind-the-scenes. Our team of talented creators, performers, and crew worked tirelessly day and night to make this production come to life. Special thanks to our kalaripayattu teacher, Lalita Ramona Yagnik , who worked tirelessly with our artists to provide them with the necessary physical, mental, and spiritual skills to infuse their performances with greater strength, agility, and power.

Thanks to each and everyone who tuned in and watched the magnificent tale of Durga unfold right before their eyes. Your support has been nothing short of remarkable, and our hearts are filled with gratitude. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for being a part of this unforgettable journey.

We're beyond proud to have been able to share this mesmerizing show with all of you. The Durga Chronicles was truly a labor of love, and we hope it has touched your hearts just as much as it has inspired us.

“Durga poses the great conundrum: the presence of female power (in the form of the goddess) and the tragedy of violence against women. How is it that patriarchy continues to exist? How can women harness the power of the goddess?” — Philipa Rothfield

Philipa Rothfield is an academic, dance writer and reviewer. She has published widely on feminism, most recently in relation to the recent demonstrations held across Australia in 2022 in response to gendered violence. She is a member of the Dance Panel of the Green Room Theatre Awards and a Melbourne Fringe Festival judge.

Govin, a performance maker, designer, and director hailing from Melbourne, has left an indelible mark on the world of art. As the director of TerryandTheCuz, Govin has embarked on numerous international collaborations, spanning diverse artforms. His creations include the thought-provoking SK!N, a work inspired by true stories of human trafficking, the captivating Thicker Than Water, and the Off-Broadway sensation MADE IN AMERICA, presented at The Public in NYC. Not limited to stage productions, Govin's artistic endeavors also extend to the realm of digital experiences, as seen in his interactive website, www.theskinprojectproject.org, developed in conjunction with the United Nations General Assembly in New York City. 
 
In addition to his creative pursuits, Govin serves as a Board Director for the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA). His contributions have garnered recognition, earning him nominations for the New York City Innovative Theatre Award, as well as 11 Greenroom Awards and a Royal-Welsh Theatre Award. His works SK!N and HuRU-hARa have achieved multiple Greenroom wins, and he proudly holds the distinction of being a five-time recipient of Malaysia's esteemed National Arts Award.

“The Durga Chronicles demonstrates the power of the arts to shift community attitudes in polemical ways. And that’s what we need in gendered violence. We need tools that help us shift the dial on this epidemic we are facing, tools that help each of us locate ourselves as agents of change. The show itself provides insight into the experience of women but more than that, it taps into a reservoir of strength in each of us to resist, fight, engage and enlighten - just as Durga does. May a little bit of Durga inhabit all who come to see it.

The show is followed by Circles of Conversation - a moment to be in community, sharing ideas, hopes and strategies to bring about change. The whole experience is one that will leave you feeling hopeful and recharged - as we co-create our way to a better, more equal future.” - Veronica Pardo

Veronica Pardo has been leading the work on cultural equity in Australia for more than 20 years, heading peak organisations such as Arts Access Victoria and Multicultural Arts Victoria, as champions of change in the arts towards greater equity and justice. She is a highly regarded leader, sought after by institutions to guide the development of interventions aimed at changing organisational culture, structure and practice. Over the past two years, she has developed and delivered new leadership programs aimed at building greater capacity for cultural safety and the transformation of institutional systems that harbour inequity. She is an experienced workshop facilitator who brings both lived and professional experience of diversity to the creation of culturally safe learning and reflection spaces. Her understanding of organisational needs and priorities ensures that this work is both aspirational and practical, leading to meaningful and implementable plans for change. Veronica has trained over 150 cultural organisations focusing on issues such as racial equity and justice, cultural safety, diversity and inclusion. Chair of youth arts company Western Edge, Veronica is a migrant-settler from Uruguay, South America.
