Guided by our acclaimed industry professionals and acting coaches, our training is practical, hands-on, and theoretical. Combined with our detailed training of craft, behaviours, and artistry, we teach the important technical skills required to reach your potential in front of the camera, as well as the industry knowledge needed to reach your potential outside the classroom. 🎭 Step into Shakespeare and take your training to the next level

Our brand new Shakespeare course with John Orcsik is designed for actors ready to explore heightened text in a practical, grounded, and playable way. Over the term, you’ll learn how to unlock verse, break down complex language, and transform classical material into clear, emotionally connected performances that feel alive and immediate.
This isn’t about making Shakespeare “sound classical” it’s about building precision, clarity, and truth under pressure, so you can approach any text with confidence and ease.
Across the course, you’ll work weekly on monologues and scenes, developing your understanding of rhythm, imagery, intention, and vocal technique, while building strong, specific choices that translate directly into audition and performance settings.

🎈Today we celebrate John Orcsik, the heart and soul of TAFTA.

Since the founding of TAFTA in 1994, John has been more than a mentor. He is a teacher, a guide, and a true friend to so many. His impact reaches far beyond the classroom. He has shaped generations of actors with his wisdom, honesty, and deep care, always showing up with generosity and selflessness for those around him.

Students past and present speak of him with such genuine respect and affection. So many careers, and more importantly so many lives, are better because of John. His humour always keeps us on our toes and reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously while still striving to be our best.

We are incredibly grateful to know him, to learn from him, and to be part of what he has built. As we move into our 32nd year of TAFTA, we are proud to continue the work you started and the community you’ve created.

What an incredible two days at TAFTA with our Junior School Holiday Program 🎬✨

We had such a beautiful mix of young performers, some stepping in front of the camera for the very first time, and others already out there auditioning, and every single one of them brought something special.

Across the two jam-packed days, the kids:
• Created and performed TWO scenes
• Learned the fundamentals of on-set work like framing, hitting marks, and how a professional set runs
• Worked in front of a 3-camera setup (just like a real film set!)
• Practised mock self-tape auditions
• Explored “chat to camera” and building confidence on screen
• Worked as a team and learned to trust their instincts during improv exercises
• And most importantly… made new friends and had so much fun doing it

We were genuinely blown away by the level of talent, focus, and bravery in the room. Watching their confidence grow in such a short time was something really special 💛

Ready to get out of your head and into the moment?

Our Improv class with Nathalie Antonia returns for Term 2, offering actors a playful, supportive space to strengthen deep listening, truthful reacting, bold character choices and spontaneous storytelling. Whether you’re new to improv or continuing your training, this ongoing class is designed to help you build confidence, trust your instincts and stay present in the moment.

In an era of self-tapes and fast-paced auditions, improvisation is one of the most valuable tools an actor can have. It trains you to think on your feet, respond truthfully and make strong, instinctive choices that casting directors love.

Led by award-winning writer and improviser Nathalie Antonia (trained at UCB and Second City), classes blend scene work, games and targeted exercises to develop creativity, presence and connection with your scene partner.
