Red Door Burlesque will be a major part of Burlesque History!
Here's a little update on the Australian Burlesque Association and what's going on with our plans for the first ever Australian Burlesque Museum. We really want to make this happen, but to do that we need help from the ENTIRE Aussie burlesque community! Before the fun part of researching our amazing history (and we already have some cracking stuff!), preserving and displaying the beautiful photos, costumes and stories, we need funds. We have a pozible fundraiser up and running and we have less than 2 weeks to go to make it to our $8000 target. This is actually a low estimate for the costs of protecting, storing & displaying these precious items. If anyone has even $5-10 to pledge please do! If you have more, even better, there's some awesome rewards up for grabs. The other thing we need help with is getting the word out. Social media, mailing lists, rich aunties, wherever you can spread the word please do! We need your help community, because we want to create this for everyone. Just imagine having a place to go where you could flick through catalogues of photos on burlesque from the 1950s to now, access stories on everything from travelling shows, to Kings Cross 1980s, to the Melbourne Burlesque Clubs of the 2000's. See costumes, watch interviews, access books & reference material. Let's make this a reality!
