Communion Melbourne features a different lineup each month offering a creative platform for emerging, developing and established artists to perform in an environment that embraces collaboration and mutual support. Having celebrated sell out nights for almost 5 years we're now bringing it to Melbourne, Australia. Founded by Ben Lovett (Mumford & Sons), Kevin Jones (Bear's Den/Cherbourg) and produce
r Ian Grimble, it grew into a community of musicians, industry and fans alike, and provided a platform for the newest bands on London's circuit. The night has seen the likes of Suede, Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons, Paloma Faith and Damien Rice grace the stage and has become closely associated with emerging as well as established movements in British Music. As well as this, it helped spawn the careers of artists such as Ben Howard, Michael Kiwanuka, The Holloways and Example, in keeping with the eclectic ethos that Communion has come to stand for. In 2009 after regular sell out nights, Communion was asked to be on the committee for the Camden Crawl and launched a sister night in Brighton, first at the Hanbury Ballrooms and then at The Albert. There are now also club nights in Leeds, Bristol, Belfast, York, Dublin, Oxford, New York and San Francisco. Communion Records was founded in September of 2009 and aims to continue the club night’s all encompassing philosophy and championing of new talent. We can't let the rest of the world have all the fun, therefore; we're proud to join the rest of the Communion family by establishing Communion Melbourne. Join us for a monthly night of amazing local and international talent in what is surely to be one of the best events the city can offer.
