Forbidden Fruit: The Creation 🍎🌱
What started as a blimp of an idea in a mentoring session with Alyssa Kitt in 2019 finally made its way onto stage at The Big Burlesque Show as part of Tassel Events Tassel Events Australian Burlesque Weekend
A huge thank you to Domino De Jour for trusting my vision and allowing me the opportunity to create this act when my application consisted of a written concept, a mood board and a twenty second video from 2020 (slide 2)
The creation of this act - an ode to my q***r journey - would not have been possible without an incredible team of creatives to back my ideas.
Apple tree - I knew that there would only be one person who would truly bring the Apple tree headpiece to fruition Aimée Tynkkynen • Costumier You are an incredible milliner and your work is beyond expectations. The finishes, the detail, the structure - every tiny detail was so well thought out and finished with absolute professionalism.
Ruby Slippers thank you my fairy gaymother for coming to the rescue with my panicked costume commissions. Ruby custom designed my slinky n**e bodysuit (making sure you could still see my back gains 💪). Originally I had requested a panel skirt to go on top but you had a bigger vision and omfg the robe was an exquisite addition to this act. The flowy sleeves and fabric were captivating on stage. Thank youuuuu!
My love Natasha Belford Tattooist 🏳️🌈 ❤️ How extremely homo$exual is it to debut an act about your q***r journey and have your fiancé help you put it together. Tash hand painted every single vine and leaf on this bodysuit which was hours and hours of patience and love. The way she flowed the pattern to my body made me feel so beautiful. Then to help me rhinestone too? I love you! 🥰 ❤️
Benjamin Curé was the obvious choice of choreographer for this piece and I’ve always been a huge fan of his work. Ben you challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and the way you curated this story through movement blew my mind (rebirth via the splits anyone?) I’m so grateful for your creativity and for the words of support which empowered me to step on stage feeling so present in my character
