Albert Einstein once said, “Intelligence is not the ability to store information, but to know where to find it.”

Seven years ago, while still in college as an urban refugee in Kampala, Uganda. I had the honor of serving as the president of the Bul Universities and Colleges Students’ Association in Uganda(BUCSAU). Together with my team, we carried out several projects that promoted the welfare of both our students and the wider community.

One achievement I remain especially proud of is the establishment of the Mayom Students’ Library in the Kiryandongo refugee settlement. Just a few days ago, I followed up to ensure this library is revived and brought back to life.

I know firsthand how vital education and access to information are. Refugees often have immense talent that simply needs nurturing. A library provides a space where young people can learn, grow, and unlock their potential.

While one can learn through traveling and experiencing different cultures, that option is out of reach for many young people in refugee camps. Libraries, however, open doors to the world through books and valuable resources. With them, youth/students can explore, discover, and dream beyond their immediate surroundings.

Way to go, family. With the support of friends and community members, we are bringing your study space back to life.
