In loving memory of co- founder, Michelle Faiers, French Cabaret Entertainment Melbourne brings you an authentic and traditional taste of the French Can Can and Cabaret for your functions, festivals and events.
In 1976 Michelle Faiers and Jennifer Vincent Green began dancing the French Can Can at ‘Le Cafe de Paris’ in Melbourne alongside Michelle’s father Phillip who was well known in and around the city for playing the Piano Accordion.
When ‘Le Cafe de Paris’ closed its doors, Michelle and Jenny followed owner, Jean-Francois Enconniere to his new establishment ‘Bergerac’ where they returned every 14th of July to perform the Can Can for their Bastille Day celebrations.
Michelle opened her first dance school in Melbourne in the early 90’s which is how I came to know her. She quickly became my dance mentor and someone who I aspired to be like as a dancer and person. When I turned 14 Michelle taught me the French can can and I performed my first professional show for Michelle at ‘Bergerac’.
In 2001 Michelle sadly passed away, a loss felt by the many people who loved her. Michelle’s last words to me were “Go and practice the Can Can”. From 2001 until today I have performed at ‘Bergerac’ alongside many other beautiful dancers who I have invited to join me each year.
This year we have been invited to be a part of many Bastille Day celebrations and for this reason, in honour of Michelle, the ultimate showgirl, I bring you, French Cabaret Entertainment Melbourne.
