An 8-week course in genre-based improv with award-winning improviser Greg Lavell.

Explore the worlds of Film Noir, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Western—and learn to create bold, character-driven scenes grounded in story, archetype, and theme.

Focused on scene work, long-form narrative, and compelling character choices, this course suits intermediate improvisers and performers looking to build story instincts, deepen their range, and create bold, unscripted worlds.

What a night! I'm filled with pride for this class of wonderful people who performed their first-ever improv show in front of family and friends. It was the perfect culmination of our 8-week 'Improv Fundamentals' course.

It’s been a true privilege to guide this group, who, though new to improv, have shown so much courage and creativity. What a joy!

We’re thrilled to announce Melbourne Unscripted’s first term workshop for beginners! Our 6-week ‘Intro to Improv’ course is the perfect taster for anyone curious about the world of improv. Whether you’re a complete beginner or just looking to try something new, this fun and supportive workshop will introduce you to the basics in a social and enjoyable setting.

Led by Artistic Director Greg Lavell, the course explores the fundamentals of improv through games, exercises, and scene work designed to build trust, spark creative ideas, and develop collaboration skills. It’s the ideal way to experience the joy of improv while connecting with others and having a great time.
