Sounds of Polynesia’s Euro Tour 2027🥁🌺

Introducing our Cultural Leader & Coordinator – Pherina

We are proud to introduce Pherina, the founder and heart of Sounds of Polynesia.

For over 30 years, she has led our group, building the longest-running Cook Islands cultural group in Melbourne. Originally from Rarotonga, Mangaia, and Mitiaro, Pherina has dedicated her life to preserving, teaching, and sharing our culture.

Culture is not just something she does — it is who she is. It is the core of her life, shaping her values, her purpose, and the way she leads and uplifts others.

She is deeply passionate about guiding our younger generations, helping them grow in confidence, identity, and pride while staying connected to their roots. Through her, culture is lived, nurtured, and passed on with love.

As she shares, Cook Islands culture has been her life’s work for over 55 years — guiding and strengthening her, and connecting her to her people and faith. She believes culture must be cared for and shared, so it remains respected, celebrated, and alive for future generations.

We are honoured to walk this journey under her leadership as we head towards Festivals du Sud 2027.
