The Meat is in the Tail is a cinematic fashion film that enters a Lynchian dreamscape of desire and female power.
Inspired by the roadhouses and charged atmospheres of Louisiana’s deep south, the work imagines a world where women can be openly sensual, uninhibited and powerful without fear.

The Melbourne International Film Festival kicked into gear last night for 2026 and Wax again is the official late night venue. Pop in for some tunes and a debrief after your film or your meeting spot prior.

FRIDAY
Two of Melbourne’s funkiest selectors are behind the decks on CAZEAUX O.S.L.On& KOLETSAS bringing you a broad range of sounds from house and disco to funk and hip-hop. FREE ENTRY all night!

SATURDAY
The enigmatic soul diva TANYA GEORGE kicks things off early with her ‘Contrast’ album launch with support from COLETTE. 10 tickets left for this one so don’t sleep! CAAEAUX O.S.L.O is back for the late session to keep you dancing from 10pm & free entry.

SUNDAY

Eddie Mac’s Bionic Boogie returns to Wax Music Lounge for a night dedicated to deep musical appreciation, bringing together four seasoned selectors for an exploration of classic funk, soul, disco, boogie and house. Joining EDDIE MAC behind the decks is DON NADI & DEM LARGE each bringing their own distinct perspective and carefully curated selections to the floor. From heavyweight dancefloor burners and soulful rarities to uplifting house cuts and boogie classics, the night celebrates the sounds that continue to inspire DJs, dancers and music lovers alike.

Having worked with a roster of international artists in Glasgow’s most renowned clubs [Sub Club, La Cheetah] as well as throwing parties across Europe, his lineups show an eclectic taste.

KOLETSAS has a deep love for the music that moves people before they realise they’re moving. Drawing from the rich overlap between disco, deep house, jazz, Latin and vocal house, his sets are less about a single sound and more about a feeling - warmth, familiarity, something that reaches you somewhere personal.

Fri - Cory Champion & DJ Possum on deck to kick things off with some feel-good Friday rhythms from 7pm - Late

Sat - Keep the night going after the show at Wax with Hiatus Kaiyote After Party.

Expect an open-ended session of back-to-back-to-back DJ sets from Amin Payne, Silentjay, Lori, Ray OTW and Cazeaux O.S.L.O. With no set times and no rules, the selectors will dive into the soulful, jazz-infused, broken beat and left-field sounds that have inspired and shaped the musical world of Hiatus Kaiyote, alongside deep cuts, personal favourites and unexpected selections.

Please note: Hiatus Kaiyote will not be performing at this event.
