Dear Opera in the Alps and Opera in the Market community,
 
We are announcing today that we will not be presenting Opera in the Market and Opera in the Alps for 2021. 

A great deal of consideration has been given to this decision including consultation with sponsors, local government and the Opera Scholars Australia Board.

The scale of our events is such that we require significant time to plan and prepare. While restrictions are easing, there is still no clear outline of when events of our size can recommence.
 
The safety of our singers, orchestra, volunteers, regional partners and you our audience is of the utmost importance.
 
The good news is that we will be back for 2022. Our passionate team is already planning, creating and working with artists and our scholars to bring you a celebration of music like no other. Pencil the following dates in your diary:

🍁 Opera in the Alps – Saturday 12 March 2022
 
We are continuing with our Opera Scholars Australia program that has successfully transitioned to an online platform. In the meantime, we hope you will join us for our online concerts and keep up to date with our news via our website, social media and electronic newsletters. If you missed our first online concert, Voices of Spring, you can still enjoy it via our website (link in bio).

We are extremely grateful for your support and look forward to celebrating our love of music and singing with you again soon.

2020 Vision

Opera in the Market celebrates its 22nd year in February, with gates opening at 5:30pm to experience fine wine and delicacies from Melbourne’s famous food vans, before an evening of music and favourite opera highlights, commencing at 7:45pm.

We are proud to announce Opera in the Market 2020 will support both state-wide bushfire relief and recovery efforts, and our original fundraising cause, the Opera Scholars Australia program assisting aspiring young opera singers.

A silent auction during the evening of art, food, and gifts donated by traders and stallholders at the Queen Victoria Market will also raise funds for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

See the shining stars of Opera Scholars Australia take centre stage alongside Principal Artists Greta Bradman, Andrew Goodwin, Chloe Harris - Scholar of the Year 2019, the finalists for Opera Scholar of the Year 2020, and a special appearance by William Barton on didgeridoo.
