Bundeen Images Mark Phillips Landscape Photography I startED buying books and magazines and learnED all the ins and outs about taking a good photograph. Welcome to my journey.

My photography journey began at the age of 14 whilst on a family holiday in New Zealand armed with a twenty dollar point and shoot 35mm film camera. My father having grown up on the South Island knew all the scenic places to take us and not only showed us around this amazing island, but also took us on a four day hike along the famous Milford Track. With eye dropping scenery and epic vistas all aro

und, it goes without saying that even with a cheap camera and zero photography skills, the landscape was amazing enough to produce some pretty awesome photos for a young teenager!Upon returning to Australia, I quickly got obsessed with all things photography. Within a few months I had saved up enough to buy my first SLR camera and enrolled in all the photography classes I could at school. The only problem with having hobbies as a Teenager However, is the likelihood of having too many hobbies and interests and by the time of my late teenage years, I had slowly found other interests that took up most of my time and photography unfortunately was the one that took the back seat for a while. Fast forward almost twenty years, and I had just started up my first entrepreneurial venture with a clothing brand. Having needed to do photo shoots and quickly learning my phone was not going to be up to standards, I was suddenly in the market for my first DSLR.Needing to refresh my knowledge on all the skills and not to mention need to learn the new world of digital photography, I found myself on YouTube watching dozens of tutorials and the Like. It was at this moment I found photography vlogs, mainly the likes of Thomas Heaton, Nigel Danson and Adam Gibbs and saw these guys getting out into the wilderness and practicing landscape photography, Shooting all of These amazing vistas and beautiful locations. "This is what I used to love as a kid" I thought to myself and it wasn't long before I decided to set out on a sunrise drive and try this new camera out.It wasn't long After, I relocated from Adelaide to Melbourne for work. Not knowing anyone in Melbourne gave me the perfect excuse to grab my camera and get out and explore this new state I live in. Within a couple of months, this new found hobby became an obsession and within a year I had probably ventured and seen more of Victoria than most Victorians who had been living here their whole life. That was three years Ago. Covid slowed some things down obviously but the obsession is still very real and I feel like I'm still only just Beginning…

I now invite you along with me and hope to share with you some of the beautiful scenery this amazing country has to offer.

There’s something about snow gums that keeps pulling me back.

Every time I pass through the high country, I end up standing in front of them again — studying those twisting trunks and the streaks of colour that roll across the bark like brushstrokes. The textures shift with every season, every storm, every cold morning, and that’s exactly why they’re easily my favourite trees to photograph.

You never get the same frame twice.
Just quiet patterns, soft light, and a landscape that rewards patience.

Took this over 5 years ago - in the midst of covid, yet I never posted it. No idea why, just never got round it it I guess. It's a shot from a campsite I found on the east coast when I went on a short trip to Bermagui along with many other great locations. My campsite was litteraly just on the headland and is still one of the best campsites I've ever been!

The forest was juicy green today after all the rain we've had lately and the cascades were flowing quite nicely! Can't ask for more than that on a Sunday morning 👌

With so many great images in my feed tonight I almost feel embarrassed posting such a simple image, but the truth is, this morning was so serene and calm it created the bliss that made it so simple, and I'm pretty cool with that.

Sometimes things just fall in place. Lucked out with the perfect tide and the beautiful soft light just as I arrived. The light didn't last long, but just enough to to capture it's glow in the whispy clouds.

Tried a few different compositions last time I visited Hopetoun Falls and was blessed with this awesome light! Really love it captured only the foreground and the background in this shot but left the middle dark. Such a cool spot and always a fun place to try new things.

Had an awesome time exploring the Great Ocean Road and getting some OTEX content with this weekend! After a long day of scrambling through the Otways, we headed down this location, one that I'd been longing to visit for some time, only to be met with some pretty terrible weather. Taking cover behind some shrubs, we had basically decided to call it quits when the weather passed us just at the right time, leaving us with this tiny little burst of light. So stoked in the end as we managed to get quite a few good shots throughout the day and some great content for the new OTEX season!

A fresh look at an old image — cold morning from a camp a couple of years back.
Fog hanging low across the valley and that first hint of light breaking through.

Really didn't take enough advantage of the great sow season we had this winter but I did take this shot.
