Side Quest: Palm Springs Edition

The original plan involved Joshua Tree.

Instead, we accidentally spent a day in Palm Springs.

It’s unclear exactly where the plan changed, but there were cocktails involved.

The sunrise over the Alabama Hills felt surreal. Soft gold spilling across a landscape shaped by wind, silence, and time. The rocks slowly warming beneath the first light while Mount Whitney burned in the distance.

Standing beneath Mobius Arch, it was easy to understand why places like this became sacred. Long before cameras and road trips, the Paiute people knew this valley as Payahuunadü, “the land of flowing water”. A place deeply connected to story, spirit, and survival.

As the sun climbed higher, the whole desert woke at once. Shadows moved across the stone like water.

For a little while, it felt like the land was letting us in on a secret, a moment from something far older than ourselves.
