Lis de Vries is a textile artist with a focus on weaving, based in Naarm, Melbourne. Her pieces explore the use of fragments and remnants, they are bold, sometimes contain form, and feature non-fibre elements such as leather, seaweed and wire. Her piece 'Shagpile' received the Best in Object Design Award (Melbourne Design Fringe 2022). Lis recently returned from Florence, Italy where she wove the works ‘Funghi’ on a traditional hand operated Jacquard Loom.

Tess Braden is a textile and digital designer, who uses the computer to unravel complex design patterns and her hands to experiment with pattern, colour, and texture. There is a strong theme of playfulness in Tess’s textiles that is shown through bold colours and the use of different materials. Tess is drawn to the idea of imperfections that bring a sense of unfinishedness and opens up the possibility for her pieces to constantly evolve, creating an everlasting journey of artistic exploration with no definite endpoint.

Debra Billson is a mixed media artist and award-winning book designer who lives and works on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. Her artwork is held in both public and private collections. Debra enjoys utilising her digital skills, combined with pre-computer skills, to create textural and tactile works that investigate traditional women’s crafts. Recently, she has begun to repurpose her community’s waste in the hope that the resulting works challenge our expectations regarding the relationship between materials and their uses.
