We had a great conversation about the story of Capel Sound Studios, the work we're doing across the Mornington Peninsula, and some of the exciting things we've got ahead.

Yesterday, Capel Sound Studio’s Dave Walker spent the day with the ProBuskers, a group of local musicians who perform around the Mornington Peninsula.

Dave took the group through the fundamentals of live sound, covering microphones, signal flow, mixing, setting levels and getting a PA working effectively, before putting it all into practice with some hands-on, on-site training.

It was a great opportunity to share practical knowledge with musicians who are actively out there performing in our local community.

For us, this kind of training is a big part of what Capel Sound Studios is about: sharing skills, building confidence and helping more people make music.

The Doable Sound Art Project is a community led music initiative that brings together people with disability, musicians, artists, producers and storytellers to create original works that celebrate creativity, identity and connection.

Led by Doable Australia in partnership with local artists, Hit 66 Sound & Screen and Capel Sound Studios, the project creates opportunities for people with disability to contribute as creators, performers, decision-makers and cultural leaders.

With an upcoming documentary, EP and live performances we look forward to sharing this incredible music experience with you.

A fantastic chat with Dan and Dave from Capel Sound Studios this morning talking about the “Studio 3” initiative inviting unsigned new bands to come to RPP FM and rehearse, then record for FREE, with thanks to the Mornington Peninsula Shire.

A huge thank you to Barkly Regional Arts for welcoming us to Tennant Creek and giving us the privilege of being part of Desert Harmony Festival 2026.

To be trusted to play even a small part in something so deeply connected to place, culture, music and community was incredible.

We came to contribute what we could. We left having received far more than we expected.

Our Music Production Fundamentals course has now wrapped up at Capel Sound Studios.

It’s been a rewarding process working with a group of artists exploring microphones, mixing, and studio workflow in a hands on environment.

The level of engagement and openness throughout the course made it a genuinely valuable experience for everyone involved.

A sincere thank you to all the participants for your time, focus, and contribution to the space. It’s been a pleasure working alongside you.

We’d also like to extend a special thanks to the Arts and Culture team at the Mornington Peninsula Shire for their support in making this possible, as well as everyone who contributed behind the scenes.

We look forward to building on this and sharing more in the future.
