A birth ball can support comfort, movement and connection during pregnancy - especially if you spend long periods sitting.

Sitting mindfully on a birth ball may help you:

🌀 Gently move your pelvis and relieve lower-back pressure.
🌀 Add posture variety and avoid staying still for hours.
🌀 Practise pelvic rocking, circles and gentle bouncing.
🌀 Encourage your baby towards an optimal position, with their spine facing your belly button and their limbs towards your back.

Birth balls can also be useful postpartum. Sitting while holding and gently bouncing your baby may help settle them and create a soothing rhythm during feeds and cuddles.

For the correct fit, your hips should be the highest point, with your knees slightly lower and both feet flat on the floor. You should feel balanced, comfortable and able to move freely.

📸 shared by a pregnant mama from our current Bloom: Pregnancy & Birth Preparation series, applying her learning to support her body during pregnancy. 💛

A birth ball isn’t about one perfect position - it’s about creating comfort, movement and choice throughout your day. 🫶🏽

The flowers from friends have now dried up. The water in the vase pongs. Dust collects on your side table. Exhaustion is real.

You feel so raw - emotionally and physically - as the tiredness seeps deep within. It’s affecting the way you function. Your body craves something, but you’re not sure what it needs.

Postpartum can feel like this.
Overwhelming, messy, and deeply tender all at once.

In a recent postpartum doula visit, we slowed it right down:
💛naming what’s actually happening in your body and nervous system
💛tending to the small, doable things (hydration, food, rest, support)
💛creating a tiny pocket of calm where you could finally exhale

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

If this resonates, I’m here to walk alongside you with practical, embodied postpartum support in your home.

How can movement help you feel more at home in your changing body?

As your body changes through matrescence, gentle, intentional movement can help you tune into your interoceptive sense - the inner signals of breath, heartbeat, tension and emotion - and your proprioceptive sense, which helps you feel where your body is in space.

Through movement, you can build a deeper awareness of your changing body, listen to what you need and create moments of connection with yourself and your baby. There is no need to move perfectly - just with curiosity, kindness and presence.

Six months in, and the reality of motherhood is still so full and so demanding.

In the depths of winter, with sickness swirling and the initial wave of support having dried up, the needs don’t slow down. But neither does the love. 🩵

During this return postpartum visit, a grandparent took her babe for a walk in the carrier while we nurtured her body with massage. Then I prepared a wholesome, decadent hot chocolate while she ate a nourishing soup.

We talked about her challenges. We let her be held and seen in this short and sweet visit.

Prioritising care for herself isn’t selfish - it’s essential.

If you’d like to learn ways I can support you, or someone you love, reach out via DM or the link in my bio. 💛

A recent postpartum visit reminded me how deeply layered this season can be.

We spent the morning preparing simple, nourishing dahl mixes - some ready for the fridge, others portioned so they can be quickly brought together on the days when energy is low and nourishment still matters. Food becomes care in its most practical form.

Alongside this, we made space for honest conversation. Navigating offers of help from friends and family, clarifying what is actually needed right now, and gently bringing the mother back into focus - her needs, her capacity, her voice. This kind of emotional support is just as essential as anything practical.

We also revisited her birth story and the early days of breastfeeding - an experience that began with real challenges and uncertainty. With the right support, patience, and guidance, she is beginning to find her rhythm. There is something powerful about being witnessed in that process.

This is what postpartum support can look and feel like: nourishing food, grounded conversation, and compassionate care, all within the comfort of your home.

If you’re moving through this season and want steady, personalised support, I’d love to connect. Link in bio 💛

Winter yoga doesn’t need to be energising to be meaningful. This season invites slower movement, longer pauses, and a softer relationship with effort.

For mothers, especially during pregnancy or postpartum, a hibernation-inspired practice can feel deeply nourishing. Gentle flows, restorative shapes, and breath-led movement can support circulation, ease tension, and bring warmth without overwhelm. It’s less about achieving a pose, and more about feeling supported in your body.

And some days, stillness is the practice. A blanket, a few breaths, and permission to rest is enough. This is yoga. This is care.

How does movement support you in winter? When does stillness feel most needed?

May your practice meet you gently and leave you feeling more held than before.

There are seasons in motherhood where so much is shifting beneath the surface, it can be hard to name.
You may feel tender, changed, or suspended between what was and what is still becoming. This is the quiet language of the in-between.

Winter meets you here. It does not rush you or ask for clarity. It simply holds. And in that holding, there is space to soften, to grieve, to slowly become.

Not everything needs to be figured out right now. Some seasons are here to be witnessed, not solved.

May you feel gently held as you stand in the space between what was and what is becoming.
