For years, I thought working hard meant giving more and more of my time to the business.
Long days, staff, meetings, phone calls, overheads and always something that needed my attention. Even when I wasn't physically at work, it could still feel like the business was following me around.
These days, I look at work very differently.
I still want to be productive. I still want to challenge myself, keep learning and work towards meaningful goals. And yes, creating a good income is still important to me.
But I don't believe you should have to put your life on hold to do it.
I want time for Sue and our family. I want to travel while we're fit and healthy enough to enjoy it. I want to be able to say yes to experiences rather than always saying, "Maybe later."
And I still want something worthwhile to work towards.
For me, that's what working differently is really about.
Not avoiding work.
Creating a life where work has its place, but doesn't take over everything else.
Because the older I get, the more I realise that time isn't something you can earn back.
Work should be part of a good life, not the reason you keep putting one off.
