THE VDL ONE ACT PLAY FESTIVAL- brought to you by THE VICTORIAN DRAMA LEAGUE IN ASSOCIATION WITH Eltham Little Theatre

When?? 1 & 2 AUGUST 2026

Festival Adjudicator: LOUISE SIVERSON (our VDL patron)

The festival will be a mixture of short and one act plays and is open to individuals or theatre companies to enter.

Applications close Mon 8 June 2026. Session times are limited, so early applications are recommended.

Length of Productions:
Short Plays – 10 mins up to max 15mins.
One Act Plays – 16 mins up to max 40 mins
No Monologues.
Session start and finish times to be confirmed once program is finalised.

Bursting with pride! Baggage cofounder and longtime committee member & collaborator were recognised for their acting work at Williamstown Little Theatre and Brighton Theatre respectively on the weekend. Also of note (not pictured), Madwomen Monologues alum won Best Actress at the Victorian Drama League Awards! Congratulations! 👏🙌🥂⭐️⭐️❤️❤️

Having participated in Laura’s Aug-Sept course we can HIGHLY recommend the course to anyone interested in diving deep into Shakespearean text to discover greater meaning, context and all the handy clues for interpretation in performance. Truly eye opening and exciting. Especially useful for both actors and directors.

I am absolutely delighted to announce after a successful course through August and September I am offering another 6 week course late October through to late November in Unlocking Shakespeare's Text for Performance.

I have a real love of Shakespeare and honed my skills in New York City over a decade. Now I'm back in Melbourne and wanting to pass that knowledge onto you. If you want to add depth to your performances of Shakespeare's text this class is for you.

But this isn't like other classes where you may walk away with one finely tuned monologue you can take into auditions but rather a deep exploration of text clues throughout his plays that Shakespeare has woven into his work so you can have confidence to perform any role in any Shakespeare play.
