TEDDY DUNN + FLUXUS
Teddy Dunn and Alex Turley are one team of recipients of the FLUXUS Opera Lab ‘Space to Create’ Grant for ‘Suits: A Song Cycle’.
Working across theatre, music and contemporary performance, Teddy and Alex bring a rich and distinctive collaborative practice to this intriguing new work.
‘Suits’ sits between song cycle, theatre and opera, exploring identity, masculinity, aspiration and performance through a series of interconnected stories. The panel was particularly drawn to the originality of the concept and the strength of the collaboration at its centre.
The Space to Create Grant will support the next stage of development as the team continues to explore the work’s operatic potential.
Writer and performer Teddy Dunn brings a distinctive perspective to his work, informed by sharp observation and a deep interest in the stories we tell about ourselves.
As part of the Opera Lab, Teddy will be mentored by writer and theatre maker Ash Flanders, whose acclaimed work spans theatre, cabaret and performance.
We’re excited to support the next stage of ‘Suits’ and to see where this collaboration leads.
The FLUXUS Opera Lab is assisted by the Australian Government through Music Australia Music Australia and Creative Australia Creative Australia, its arts funding and advisory body.
