The most revolutionary thing the 13th edition of the Brackenheim International Street Theatre Festival had to offer was female power from Belfast. While men are still juggling with balls and clubs, ‘Sn**ch & Grab’ throw tomatoes into the ring, or rather the air, catch them with their necks and roll them over their backs into a blender, where the golden apples (pomodori) are pureed into tomato sauce. The ladies have little respect for toasters, blenders and empty champagne bottles. While Angelique Reckless Ross balances on empty champagne bottles, Mish Mash Thoburn lies in wait to climb onto her colleague at just the right moment. At lofty heights, she munches on crisps and simply throws the empty bag away
Careless littering is also the keyword for the next action. To the sound of the sea and screeching seagulls, there is an environmentally critical choreography with blue plastic sheeting and comments on rubbish in the sea. They learnt their skills in Ireland during the riots; hence their credo: be faster than the police. Circus artistry combined with feminist power punk in the open air in front of Brackenheim Town Hall. ‘Fabulous!’ says one spectator. The Buga dwarf in pink waves from the gallery and the audience applauds enthusiastically!
