Hi everyone,

Tanya and I are back from our hols, and excited to sing with you all again at Q***r Quoir on Sunday June 28th, 1.30 - 2.45 at Meeniyan Hall, then coffee, drinks etc at Mahob at Moo's from 3pm.

We'll be singing a rabble-rouser of a song by Crys Matthews - Forged in Fire (see a video of her singing it here: https://youtu.be/AYJQfiQcSCk?si=l67KVZHZWiQRriEC ).

"A troubadour of truth, Nashville resident Crys Matthews is among the brightest stars of the new generation of social justice music-makers. An award-winning, prolific lyricist and composer, Matthews blends Country, Americana, Folk, Blues, and Bluegrass into a bold, complex performance steeped in traditional melodies punctuated by honest, original lyrics. She is made for these times". Here's Crys's website: https://www.crysmatthews.com/

Hope to see you there!

Hi everyone,

just a reminder that Q***r Quoir is next Sunday, March 22nd, 1.30pm at Meeniyan Hall, then 3pm at Mahob's for coffee, drinks and socialising. Cost for singing is $15 ($12 conc).

For this month's songs we are going way back in time to the era of le***an blues singer Bessie Smith and also the Andrews Sisters, of whom one was also gay. We'll do 2 songs: Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out and Bei Mir Bist du Shoen.

April's Q***r Quoir will be back on the regular last Sunday of the month on April 26, and in May we'll have a month off as Tanya and I will be overseas (subject to world events of course!!)

Hope to see you next Sunday.

Cheers, Jane and Tanya xx

Hello lovely q***r singers,
Q***r Quoir is coming up again - this coming Sunday Feb 22nd, 1.30pm for a sing at the Meeniyan Hall, then 3pm for coffee/drinks at Mahob at Moos. Cost $15 ($12 unwaged).
This time our one-song-sing will be The Book of Love by The Magnetic Fields. We have loved this funny, gentle song for ages and can't wait to get you crooning along. Written by the band's lead singer Stephin Merrit, who is gay, the song has recently been covered by q***r artists Chappell Roan and Lucy Dacus and was used as the title music for the TV series Scrubs. Have a listen: https://youtu.be/0Nh28saKYwI
Looking forward to singing and hanging out together again.

Hi folks, and a happy new year to you all. May it be wonderfully q***r!

At the last gathering we announced that the next Q***r Quoir would be at the end of Jan, but we have since realised that is a long weekend, which means many will be otherwise engaged, so we have moved forward to Sunday Feb 1. 1.30pm at Meeniyan Hall for a sing, then 3pm at Mahob at Moo's for drinks, coffee etc.

Here's a clue as to what song we'll be singing: If Cher went for a walk what would she be doing?

Hi Q***r Quoiries, you simply must come along to Q***r Quoir's end of year Sing followed by our Q***r Quabaret on Sunday 30th November starting 2pm in the Meeniyan Hall Supper Room. Bring a friend, a plate and a drink, have a totally stress-free sing (re-visiting our favourite songs we've sung over the past year) and then relax and enjoy food, drink, good company and some DIY entertainment. Step up and sing a song, tell a joke, do a comedy skit, read a poem or play a saxophone! We'll also have karaoke of sorts - if you let us know by Nov 20th what song you'd like to sing, Tarnya has kindly offered to download backing tracks. Sing your favourite song on your own or with a pal or two or three. Don't be shy - you couldn't be with a more lovely crowd! Does anyone have a projector so we can project lyrics?
See you then with bells on!

Hi folks, just a heads up that Q***r Quoir is next Sunday Oct 26 (the day after Marty Gras) at 1.30pm at the Meeniyan Hall. $12.

This month's song should be a pretty easy guess.- it's a song that has been embraced by the LGBTQI+ family for a very long time for a number of reasons.Written by Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg, it first became popular in a film in 1939. We'll be singing the version that was re-imagined in 1993 by a Hawaiian singer. Say no more . . . guesses on a postcard!

Hope to see you there.
