Jimi is a self-taught musician whose musical journey began at the age of 13 when he picked up the drums, and over the years, played in various bands. By the time he was 17, he had started teaching himself guitar, playing along to his favourite records. He was too shy to sing in front of others, but would often lock himself away, singing to himself. It wasn't until he formed a duo with a friend that he began to gain the confidence to perform in public, sparking a true passion for singing and playing guitar.
For years he was always trying too hard to write the “perfect song.” But with time, he began to let go of that pressure and allowed his creativity to flow.
Jimi says “music has been my therapy. Writing songs has allowed me to process my emotions, whether I’m feeling down or facing a tough situation”.
