We’re so excited to be part of the Modern Artifacts Market Modern Artifacts ✨

Presented alongside Treasures of the Viking Age: The Galloway Hoard, this special market brings together contemporary jewellery, ceramics, glass, objects and design, celebrating the many ways makers continue to work with materials, process and craft today.

Developed in partnership with the Australian National Maritime Museum National Maritime Museum and spearheaded by SquarePeg Studios, Modern Artifacts features a curated line-up of artists, including some of our resident makers, our dear jewellery friends and many brilliant creative practitioners across different craft practices.

It’s been such a joy seeing this lovely group learn new techniques with Mel, share ideas, troubleshoot projects, and keep the tea and sweets flowing along the way 🍵

Lovely moments from last Thursday’s Amulets and Adornments jewellery workshop at the Maritime Museum National Maritime Museum ✨

We had such a fun day with our young makers visiting the current Treasure of the Viking Age: The Galloway Hoard, and exploring jewellery and adornment as symbols of protection, identity and personal meaning.

Join us at SquarePeg Studios for a special evening with acclaimed Australian jeweller and metalsmith Julie Blyfield Julie Blyfield , one of Australia’s most respected contemporary jewellery artists, whose work has profoundly influenced generations of makers. ✨

An inspiring and generous educator, Julie has mentored countless jewellers and taught workshops across Australia and overseas. Her work is held in major public collections including the National Gallery of Australia and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London reflecting Julie’s significant contribution to contemporary jewellery both in Australia and internationally.

This is a wonderful opportunity to hear directly from one of Australia’s leading contemporary jewellers as she reflects on material, process and the enduring relationship between making, observation and the natural world.

We’re so excited for Amulets and Adornments, a special metalwork and jewellery workshop for young makers at the Australian National Maritime Museum National Maritime Museum ✨

The day will begin with a guided tour of the museum’s newest exhibition, Treasure of the Viking Age: The Galloway Hoard. Taking inspiration from the objects, symbols and stories on display, young makers will then get hands-on in the workshop to develop their own wearable contemporary object!

🎉 A warm welcome to Tetiana, who has been taking the Graduate Residency program at SquarePeg over the past few months

Tanya recently completed her studies at Design Centre Enmore and is a jewellery artist based on the Central Coast, originally from Ukraine.

Her practice beautifully brings together traditional hand-craftsmanship with contemporary digital design, mixing hand carving, soldering and stone setting with CAD when precision calls for it.

Her work is deeply symbolic and story-driven, drawing on folklore, sacred geometry and ancient motifs, with a strong commitment to slow, ethical and sustainable making. Each piece is created with intention and care, carrying that lovely sense of old-world spirit meeting the new.
