The Mareeba Multicultural Festival committee would like to pass on our sincere condolences after learning of the passing of Daniel Luta.
Daniel was a beloved performer at the Festival, performing freestyle rap and was a highlight in the program.
Three years ago, Daniel formed and coached a Men’s grassroots Indigenous rugby league team from his wheelchair, bringing together men in our community through sport, connection, and support.
The team not only honours those we’ve lost, but also provides a positive outlet for men in the community and celebrates cultural connection.
In Daniels memory, the team will be going to the Bindal Sharks Indigenous All Blacks Carnival in Townsville, 9-11 October 2026, representing Mareeba and celebrating community, culture, and his legacy.
