Celebrating the longest night of the year, Mansfield Lantern Festival has evolved into one of the most eagerly anticipated annual events in Victoria’s High Country. Alli Walker of Walker Events has steered this beautiful celebration of the Winter Solstice in Mansfield, at the foot of snow-capped Mt Buller, since 2015. The festival is returning with a fun and packed long weekend program from Friday

16 to Sunday 18 June 2023. Highlights will include music, performance artists, exhibitions and buzzing market stalls showcasing the amazing, food, wine, craft beer and spirits produced in and around Mansfield. The weekend celebrations will kick off in spectacular style with a lantern parade and open fires to light up the darkness and ward off the mid-Winter chill. A photography workshop is back for 2023 – what better place to sharpen your night photography skills? From tiny beginnings the Mansfield Lantern Festival now regularly attracts more than a thousand festival-goers. Ahead of the event, free lantern-making workshops are available to encourage locals and visitors to get creative and get involved.

A very warm thank you to Doonbandit contracting for keeping us toasty on Saturday night.

The team at Doon Bandit have generously donated a metre of premium red gum firewood to fuel the open fires at this year's Mansfield Lantern Festival - and if that wasn't enough, they're also running a firewood raffle on the night (drawn at 8pm!)

The Mansfield Lantern Festival has always been a community event at heart - and none of it happens without help along the way.

We are so grateful to Mansfield Shire Council for their generous in-kind support of the 2026 festival. Big support deserves a proper thank you. 🙌
The 2026 Mansfield Lantern Festival was able to expand into a full three-day winter solstice weekend for the first time - and a very significant part of making that possible was the support of the Victorian Government's Regional Events Fund.
This funding meant more events, a bigger program, wider tourism marketing reach and an even better experience for the many visitors who make their way to Mansfield each June. It's a genuine vote of confidence in what we've been building here since 2015 - and in the power of regional events to bring communities together and deliver real economic benefit to towns like ours.

We are incredibly proud and grateful to have the Victorian Government's support behind the 2026 festival.

Something magical is about to happen in Mansfield. ✨

Only a week away until the Mansfield Lantern Festival comes alive - and we've pulled together an absolutely spectacular lineup to light up your night.
Giant bubbles drifting through the crowd. Spinning plates. Roving close-up magic that'll leave you wondering how on earth they did that. An LED playspace for the kids to go wild in. Stilt walkers glowing through the dark.
And then - just when you think it can't get any better - fire.

At 8pm on Saturday, two extraordinary fire performers take the stage. Hula hoops, fans, palm torches, a pixel whip, fire bubbles... and then a second act with more props than you've ever seen in one show.

The longest night begins gently.

Join us Friday 19 June from 6pm at the Mansfield Botanic Park as we welcome the winter solstice weekend with firelight, lanterns, and music.
Abbey Wettenhall - a Mansfield-born musician whose acoustic guitar and vocals are the perfect soundtrack - will take to the stage filling the night with warmth as you settle into the solstice spirit.

Wrap your hands around a coffee or hot chocolate, find your spot by the light, and let the longest night begin.
