Dave's Faves for the Menzies August 2025 Auction 😀 - http://eepurl.com/jkDxU6 In this strong selection of contemporary Australian and Indigenous art, we get the choice of several artworks by several of Australia’s best loved artists, including Arthur Boyd, John Olsen and Brett Whiteley. Surely the pick of the bunch in the Whiteley collection is the luminous “Sketch of a Magnolia” from 1977, not seen in public since it was purchased from renowned art dealer Joseph Brown.

This sale curated by Leonard Joel offers a remarkable collection of original prints and even hand-signed plates by the Australian master, produced in the 1990s with master printmakers Tony and Indra Deigan who introduced Boyd to the collagraph technique.
Provenance not only often establishes the authenticity of an artwork, but it can and does add real value to art too.

A Summer with Art 🌞 - https://mailchi.mp/9f83dee3ee67/a-summer-with-art The summer holidays may be almost over, but luckily, summer is not. We enjoyed the break to visit Canberra and one of the highlights were our visits to the National Gallery of Australia.
It was a pure joy to see so many of Carrick’s light-filled paintings of the South of France and Australia. And we were extremely happy to encounter the most famous painting of Manly, “Christmas Day on Manly Beach” from the collection of the Manly Art Gallery & Museum.
