On September 20, we Brazilians from the southernmost state of Brazil celebrated the Farroupilha Revolution started in 1835.

Times were different and Imperial Brazil was imposing high taxes on our main export product, the “charque” (beef jerky). Due to the circumstances a revolution was necessary.

We are not in favor of wars, after all in wars there are no winners, that is, there are only losers. Anyway, in this historical event we gained our identity.

We are proud to be Brazilians and gauchos from Rio Grande do Sul.

We remain a receptive people, respecting and valuing the different cultures existing in the world and always willing to share some 🧉 and gather around the fire cooking a good “churrasco” (barbecue), celebrating another day of life with lots of conversation and music.

🧀 Halloumi is one of the specular options on our menu.

A very valuable tip when preparing halloumi is to cut this and leave it for a few hours in the fridge or overnight. This will help with your cooking and it will stay crispy and it won't melt on your grill.

We marinate it with a good olive oil and oregano you don't need to use salt because it already has a considerable amount of salt in the industrialized way. We also like to finish the halloumi after it is cooked with lemon, this makes it irresistible for people who are not lactose intolerant and who are not vegan.

We prefer to cook this on the grill and the fire can be medium high and the flames can touch it unlike meats with fat that you should not have the fat in contact with the flames because you will be transforming the fat into saturated fat and as you well know this is not healthy at all.
