It was just a run down old fibro cottage when I moved here, with small windows and a rabbit warren of rooms. Outside, degraded fields of kikuyu and a few lonely shrubs comprised “the garden”, and I felt exposed — to the wind, to the world. Pulled to the earth in response, I began. And it’s been “my assignment” ever since. Just hard enough, just lovely enough, just mad enough to keep me...

Stellar Violets and its many stories wouldn’t exist without all the people and creatures who’ve loved it into being. Too many to name here — thank you all, truly.

It is with delight I can announce we have a few special spaces open for bookings! This is my invitation: come and stay. Immerse yourself in this place of my heart and hearth, where I’ve planted my soul. Let it love you, as it has loved me.

GIFTED PENDING PICKUP: An offer for locals with an active interest in preserving food: We have been donated a vacola preserving machine, two boxes of jars, lids and clips. All in working order as far as we know. It came from my aunt, who is moving into a retirement village; she would just like it to go to a good home. We already have a couple of machines and more jars than we need, so we'd like to offer this kit to someone local and enthusiastic about continuing these preserving traditions. Some people have more means than others, so please consider your means before jumping on this freebie offer. We don't have room to store it for very long so you'll need to pick up in the next few days/asap. Note: the kit won't come with its original instruction and recipe book, as a family member would like to keep that as an heirloom. W have borrowed the book, so the person taking the kit can take photos of key information on pickup day. Please comment or PM your interest!
