By far one of my favourite animals to find in the wild. The Western Quoll is very elusive but with patience and the help of thermal imaging I was able to capture this one with my remote trap camera.

The New Holland Honey Eater is one of the most active nectar‑feeders in the southwest, moving constantly and defending good patches with those sharp, repetitive calls. They also play a big role in pollinating banksias and other native plants, so seeing one pause for a moment is always worth grabbing the shot.

While out looking for Honey Possums this endangered Western Bristlebird walked right along the sand track beside me. This species is one of Australia’s most threatened ground‑dwelling birds, restricted to a few coastal heathland pockets in WA’s south. They’re known for being extremely secretive, so seeing one out in the open like this was a rare field moment.

Back to one of my favourite animals the Echidna. I would watch these guys all day. In the last photo you can see his tongue. They are very long and sticky used to get into small gaps in wood to scoop up small bugs like ants and termites.

These may not be my best photos, but they are some of the most exciting for me. After I moved to Australia 2 and a half years ago I heard about the Honey Possum. Ever since it has been a bucket list animal for me to photograph. Only 7-9 cm long (and a tail that's slightly longer) and 7-16 grams they are one of the smallest marsupials and the worlds only nectivorous mammals (meaning they only feed on nectar). Living primarily in Banksia bushes, being nocturnal, and their small size make them incredibly hard to find. With the help of thermal imaging and very early wake up calls I was finally able to find this guy. These adorable guys are only found in the southwest of Western Australia.

A beautiful day to hike Bluff Knoll. As the highest peak in southern Western Australia, the cooler temps make this one of the more popular hikes in the state.

What a special moment to witness. I was able to spot a Hooded Plover family on the salt flats in the morning. It is really awesome to see a Hooded Plover chick. Hooded Plovers nest right in the sand where footsteps, dogs, and tides can easily destroy their well-camouflaged eggs. With only around 2,000 left in Western Australia, every successful nest matters.

I love finding the unexpected. We came across this pink lake after taking a detour down a dirt road. It is not on the map as one of the pink lakes but we managed to come by it right at the perfect time. I do love how the drone is able to capture the moment the streams filling it turn from greenish brown to pink. Let me know which one of these images are your favourite? I am trying to decide which one I like best.

What a cool day watching these Red-Capped Plovers running across this pink salt lake in the morning.
