We have been so very saddened & shocked to hear of the passing of former ballet student Maryam Adley who lost her battle with leukaemia on Wednesday. Maryam you may remember was the daughter of ballet teacher Alla Sabirova who taught at TJC for a number of years. When I saw Maryam before Xmas she was so happy having just gained excellent results from her teachers at the VCA where she had been training & looking forward to returning to her dancing this year. It is quite hard to understand why someone this young & talented has their life snatched away from them. Maryam did fortunately get to perform last year at the Fringe Festival in a dance production called Resonance & was looking forward to doing more performance work.
It is so distressing & I have been so upset & shocked as I know many of her former dance friends will be to hear this news.
We give our deepest condolences, & prayers to Alla & Hussein & wish them all the strength & love to get through this most difficult time.
RIP Maryam we all love you & will sadly miss you. Keep on dancing up there.

Australia’s AASCF Nationals On Track to Break Records

With five months still remaining, the 2025 AASCF Nationals in Melbourne has already reached 95% capacity, with nearly 2,000 teams confirmed. AASCF officials expect the event to become the largest cheer and dance competition ever held in Australia.

Last year’s Nationals on the Gold Coast was the biggest in AASCF’s history, drawing 2,400 teams from 180 programs. Early projections suggest this year’s Melbourne edition could surpass even that, as AASCF celebrates its 20th anniversary season.

The event will take place this November at the Melbourne Convention Centre, continuing a long-standing tradition of uniting programs in one of the sport’s most anticipated competitions.
