One year ago today, in the wake of a cyclone, and against all odds, our tour of "A Girl's Guide to World War" kicked off at Caloundra.

Cyclone Alfred had forced us to abandon our plan to tech, dress and open at , and suddenly our tour looked uncertain. But the incredible teams at The Events Centre and RPAC stepped in with generosity, flexibility and genuine support, and helped us get the show back on the road. Because of their kindness, "the show did go on"!

We'll always be grateful to the wonderful teams at RPAC and TEC - THANK YOU.

🎶 Did you know Aleathea Monsour (aka Dr Anges Bennett) isn’t just a powerhouse in musical theatre — she’s also an awesome bass player and a pivotal part of Vix and the Slick Chix? 🔥

Last time at the Maleny Hotel it was a full house — high vibes, big energy, and grooves that made it impossible to stand still. 💃🕺⚡

This Friday, Aleathea hits the stage again with Vix & the Slick Chix for another night of blues, soul, and pure groove.

At last week’s VIEW National Convention, MTA co-founder and writer Katy Forde was honoured to speak on the Inspirational Australians forum about Queensland’s first female doctor, Dr Lilian Cooper.

The panel was brilliantly facilitated by ABC’s Donna Field, and Katy was in remarkable company alongside Detective Chief Inspector Anderson BM, APM; former Bluey animation director Harvey; and astrophysicist Professor Davis AM.

In the lead-up, Katy created a special walking tour for the panelists, tracing the footsteps of Dr Cooper and her lifelong partner Miss Josephine Bedford — a chance to connect with history in a very real way. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️

At MTA, we love seeing these stories come alive — the same spirit that continues to inspire our musical A Girl’s Guide to World War. ❤️🎵

We love this signal box!! ❤️

Proudly standing on Musgrave Road in Red Hill, this painted signal box honours Australia’s first female surgeon and fearless hero of A Girl’s Guide to World War, Dr Lilian Cooper.

In 2015, Christina Bakker set out to honour an inspiring female Brisbane historical figure by painting their portrait as part of the Artforce Brisbane project. She chose Dr Lilian Cooper, and her work, ‘Now Is The Time’, celebrates Dr Cooper’s achievements while at the same time advocating for marriage equality. (Note that the ‘o’ in ‘now’ is shown as a wedding ring and the initials ‘JB’ on the necklace stand for Josephine Bedford. 💍❤️)

It makes us so happy to see Dr Cooper’s accomplishments and legacy recognised in such a wonderful way. 🙌

There were lots of people at the Maleny Playhouse to listen to mother and daughter Margery Forde and Katy Forde’s talk this afternoon. 🥰

Margery spoke about the process of dramatising the experiences of Brisbane children and young people during WWII to create her beloved work Snapshots From Home - most recently performed at the Maleny Playhouse.

Katy shared stories of the process of writing her hit musical A Girl’s Guide to World War - from the original inspiration to researching the women to writing the songs to touring the show.

The audience were enthralled and very privileged to get a glimpse into the world behind the scenes of these incredible shows.

Thank you to Barbara for facilitating the discussion and thank you to the Maleny Players for inviting these two wonderful women to share their process and stories.
