Attention Bridge Players. This information is based on legitimate Australian Advice and should be followed please.
On Monday 27th July, at 2pm, during our usual Monday session, the Australian Government will be performing a Critical Alert test to ALL mobile phones and devices such as smart watches, tablets, children’s safety watches and the like.
Your phone needs to be either switched off or put in airplane mode at least one hour prior to the expected 2pm alert please.
This alert will be very disruptive to the Monday players. After the alert, please KEEP your phone off or in airplane mode until after the Monday session has ended to avoid any unexpected disruptions.
Please see more information as people are confusing a CRITICAL ALERT with a PRIORITY ALERT. There is an important difference and it could affect the safety of some people wishing to keep a SAFE phone from being detected.
TAKE NOTICE – Critical Alert Test
Please NOTE that the test on Monday 27 July is a CRITICAL alert test.
You cannot override or disable receiving a CRITICAL alert on any iPhone or Android device.
You can only override PRIORITY alerts — not CRITICAL alerts.
How to avoid receiving the CRITICAL alert
The ONLY way to prevent your device from receiving the CRITICAL alert test on Monday 27 July is to:
• Turn your phone OFF, or
• Place it in AIRPLANE MODE
Important safety advice
For anyone who has a SAFE PHONE that must not be discovered, the advice is:
• Turn that phone OFF before the test, and
• Leave it OFF for 24 hours.
