Another year rolls around and our performer applications are open for our folky, and will close at midnight on 31st March. Please apply online:

Performer applications for 2024 are now open and will close 31st March. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of selection by the end of May.

Lost Property.

Have you lost a set of Apple airpods? I have it with initials on it. Please message the folky if they are yours and can tell me the initials.

I also have a pair of prescription Collette Dinnigan glasses that need to go home.

We are so excited to welcome back Emily Jane Pritchard, our 2024 ‘Roddy Read Songwriters Award’ winner to the 50th anniversary Maldon festival stages this year.

With effortless and captivating charm, Emily Jane Pritchard steps out as Naarm’s newest Indie Folk darling. The Mornington Peninsula-based songwriter pens intricate melodies and lyrics that linger in the heart and mind long after the show has finished. Appearing at the iconic Maldon Folk Festival in 2024, Pritchard’s artistry was celebrated when she took out the Roddy Read Songwriters Award, further cementing her place as a rising voice in the indie folk scene.

Here are our ‘Roddy Read Songwriting Award’ finalists for 2025 🎶🎉 Congratulations to everyone.

The winner will perform their winning song on the Progress Hall stage at 1pm on Sunday 2nd November and also be guaranteed a place in the 2026 Maldon Folk Festival.

The ‘Roddy Read Songwriting Award’ is again sponsored by Maton Guitars , with a prize of a guitar and hard case.

We’re packed and ready for Maldon Folk Festival 2025 (our 50th anniversary!) over the Melbourne Cup weekend. Here are 4 more artists on our program.

FIONA ROSS

Renowned for her honest, earthy style and deep knowledge of the Scots tradition, Fiona Ross Music is widely recognised as one of the leading interpreters of Scots song today. A finalist for Scots Singer of the Year at Scotland’s prestigious Trad Music Awards, she has earned acclaim for her emotive performances and powerful storytelling.

PLAY IT MARTHA

playitmartha is the original music project of Patrick Evans and Cora Browne. Returning triumphant to Maldon with their debut album, these two talented musicians are excited to share their original songs showcasing their curiosity about the world, shared love of harmony, well-crafted songs and the odd rollicking chorus.

HANNAH SCHMIDLI

Dynamic Victorian singer-songwriter Hannah Schmidli returns to Maldon along with her trademark golden telecaster and backing band in tow. For this 2018 Roddy Read Memorial Song Writing Award Winner, performing at Maldon is like a homecoming, having grown up attending, performing and being influenced by this wonderful festival. Her gorgeous lyricism and deep audience connection make for stunning solo and full-band performances

THE TEQUILA MOCKINGBIRDS

After a mysterious and possibly tequila-related hiatus, the Tequila Mockingbirds have dusted off their instruments, pried their outfits out of mothballs, and unearthed setlists written in a language only decipherable with a steel guitar and a fiddle. The result? A sonic spectacle so potent, it’s been known to make cacti sway, coyotes harmonize, and even the most two-left-footed cowpoke attempt a Texas two-step.
