Since the 2024 release of his debut self-produced EP ‘What Luck!’, Sam Nicholls has been quickly establishing himself as a unique and quietly confident voice in Newcastle’s indie music scene. Since relocating from his hometown of Melbourne to Newcastle in 2023, Sam has moved up from small bar stages to sold-out single release shows at The Lass O’Gowrie, a festival slot at West Best Bloc Fest and opening for Bootleg Rascal.

An ever evolving and prolific artist, Sam’s latest single release ‘Double Dutch’ sees Nicholls flesh out his sound in the studio, with nods to the experimental sound of Bon Iver and the melodic rock of Wunderhorse, topped off with his first Australian double headline tour with full band in tow. Sam’s next project is due out in early 2026, and will mark the beginning of a new era, lyrically and sonically.
