GROUPS WEEKEND 2026 💜⚡️

What a weekend for our RRSD team at the Mackay Eisteddfod! 🥹✨

So many months of hard work, rehearsals and preparation all came together on stage, and watching our dancers absolutely LOVE every second of performing with their teammates was the best part of it all. The energy, friendships, support for one another and pure JOY on that stage is what Groups Weekend is all about! 💜

We are SO incredibly proud of every single dancer who represented RRSD this weekend. Placings are wonderful, but seeing our dancers perform with confidence, support their teammates and come off stage absolutely buzzing will always mean the most to us.

A huge thank you to our incredible teachers, dancers and families who make weekends like this possible. What a special little dance family we have. 🥹💜

’Twas the night before the Eisteddfod, and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring… well, that’s certainly not true in our house!

The cameras were charging, the batteries all stacked,
Memory cards cleared and the camera bags packed.
Lenses were polished, the tripods stood tall,
With cables and chargers piled up by the wall.

The coffee was ready — we’ll need quite a lot,
Because sleep through Eisteddfod? Apparently not!
There’ll be early starts and very late nights,
Thousands of photos and very bright lights.

Across Mackay, costumes are hanging with care,
With sequins and feathers absolutely everywhere.
Props are packed tightly in trailers and cars,
From tiny little boxes to enormous gold stars.

There’ll be hairspray and bobby pins covering the floor,
And someone will definitely forget something at the door.
“Where are my shoes?!” and “Mum, where’s my prop?!”
While parents quietly wonder if the madness will stop.

But tomorrow the curtains will open once more,
And excited performers will step onto the floor.
There’ll be dancing and drama, big smiles and nerves,
And proud little faces getting the applause they deserve.

We’ll capture the moments — the laughter, the fun,
The friendships, the memories, and every great run.
Because long after the costumes are packed away,
The photos and videos will bring back the day.

So here’s to the teachers, the parents and crew,
The volunteers, performers and adjudicators too.
To the memories we’ll make and the stories we’ll tell…

To know that so many of you are excited to fill the MECC and support our dancers means more to us than we can say.

We are so incredibly lucky to have such a supportive community behind our school, and we truly cannot thank our RRSD families, friends and supporters enough. 💜

Our dancers work so hard all year for this moment, and knowing they’ll be stepping onto that stage in front of a FULL HOUSE makes it even more special.

✨ WHAT. A. WEEKEND. ✨

Our dancers had an absolutely incredible weekend with the amazingly talented Mitchell & Euan Fistrovic Doidge as we kicked off preparations for our 2026 competition season! 🔥

Our dancers spent the weekend learning brand-new routines, pushing themselves outside their comfort zones, building confidence, making memories and having an absolute blast along the way. ✨

The talent, creativity and passion that Mitchell and Euan brought into the studio was truly inspiring, and we cannot thank them enough for sharing their knowledge, expertise and love of dance with our students. 🤍

A huge congratulations to all of our dancers for their hard work, focus and enthusiasm across the entire weekend. We are so proud of each and every one of you.

Thank you again, Mitchell Fistrovic Doidge and Euan Fistrovic Doidge we loved every minute and can’t wait to have you back at RRSD! 💜
