This morning, the Friday Gardening Crew swapped their pruners and mowers for dehydrators as they learned the art of preserving fresh produce by dehydrating apples.

Led by Emily Rogers, the workshop provided a wonderful opportunity for participants to connect, learn a new skill, and enjoy a healthy homemade snack along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Community Feast: Celebrating Diversity Through Food at the Macedon & Mount Macedon Community House.

Originally inspired by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre's Feast for Freedom campaign, our wonderful Community Dinners team took things a step further by preparing and sharing a range of delicious homemade dishes inspired by refugee stories, cultures and cuisines from around the world. All the food got eaten and was super delicious, with quite a few people also contributing dishes.

It was a fantastic evening of food, conversation, connection and cultural celebration, with around 40 community members coming together around the table.

This event was proudly supported by Macedon Ranges Shire Council as part of Neighbourhood House Week, and we sincerely thank MRSC, our dedicated volunteers, Community Dinners team, and everyone who attended and contributed to making the evening such a success.

Watch this space as there will be more Community Dinners to come

Our volunteer gardeners enjoyed a visit from the team from New Gisborne Community Garden during our gardening session last Friday. It was a lovely sunny morning to show them around and chat about how we care for the garden. We followed the tour up with morning tea, seed swaps and discussions around ways that we can continue to share seeds, cuttings, skills, ideas and all the collected wisdom within our two gardening groups. We're looking forward to paying a return visit to the New Gisborne Community Garden soon.

We're back in the garden this Friday for our Term 2 Volunteer Gardening Program. Come & meet our amazing and friendly crew of vollies who tend to the garden and learn together each week. We meet every Friday between 9.30 and 11.00am. No skills or experience required - we have lots of people who can show you the ropes and there are plenty of jobs to do, even if you're a complete garden beginner.

If you'd like to stick around after 11am, many of our volunteers down tools and join Permies @ The House for a cuppa, conversation and shared activities like seed saving & preserving food.

Register for the Term 2 Garden Crew using the link below - and we'll see you on Friday!

Fridays in Term 2, from April 24th - Jun 26th We meet on Friday mornings to work together, share skills and learn how to take care of a garden based on permaculture principles at Macedon & Mt Macedon Community House.

Children’s Birthday Parties at MMMCH 🎈

With our light-filled space, beautiful gardens, and fully equipped kitchen (including a commercial dishwasher, pie warmer and hot water urn), Macedon and Mount Macedon Community House is quickly becoming a favourite spot to host your child’s next birthday party.

Host a relaxed morning or afternoon celebration, then wander up the road for a pub lunch so the parents can put their feet up and enjoy a drink while the kids wind down.

Our room hire is affordable, and every booking helps support the House - allowing us to continue offering programs and services for our local community.

So… why dirty your own kitchen when you can use ours instead?
