I was looking for some inspiration from books…

I love books! You got time to analyse, soak it in, train your eyes and unconscious…old trick of folding a piece of paper and “by hand/imperfection” cutting through a square (or close enough!!)…you see things from a different perspective…

Then it’s hard to stop!! Trained in architecture and photography-just to name a few-my eyes are now super fine where the smallest detail becomes the “thing”….beauty is everywhere 🖤

Accidental masterpiece…at least for me…

Love it!! I only used the glazes I already had…and I experimented…

my mantra: “allow yourself to f***k up…that’s simple…JUST PLAY GAIA…the world is a BIG playground 😜

How to choose art for your home.

Do not begin only with colour.

Begin with feeling.

Ask: What does this room need emotionally?

Does the artwork bring calm, tension, depth, or movement?

Does it speak to the materials already in the space?

Does it feel like it belongs without disappearing?

The best artwork does not simply coordinate.

It creates a relationship.

This is the thinking behind the artworks created for the unique Sabbia Residence project, where art, interiors, materiality and atmosphere were conceived together.

Artwork by Gaia Starace: "Last breath of the tide", 30x40 inch (76.2x101.6 cm x5cm edge), Mix Media on Canvas

DAY…2026

Original/Italian:

Che bello!
Una luce speciale,
un silenzio rotto dal fracasso di una pentola,
gli stessi uccelli che cantano la stessa musica
Ricordi, ricordi e ricordi ancora

English translation :
How beautiful!
A special light,
a silence broken by the clatter of a pot,
the same birds singing the same music.
Memories, memories, and memories again.
Playing with stones.
The soda with the straw that hides in the neck of the bottle.
The smell of garlic and onion on a Sunday morning.
I return to this world.
Feet on the ground, I stop dreaming.Futile, this life path.
A merry-go-round of words.
Adventures never taken.
Then I lie down in bed.
I recognize it.
My refuge.
My safe place.
What am I doing?
I am dreaming, how beautiful!

Born a dreamer I learned to also be a warrior…perfect balance…I dedicate this poem to a beautiful friend that is questioning life and its values…memories are beautiful, sometimes they are not…no matter what, I say dream! It’s beautiful, liberating and enduring ###

DAY….already forgotten…

I’m working on a body of work for HOME GROWN upcoming exhibition The Concourse Chatswood, NSW.

I’ve been asked to apply for expression of interest and they actually offered me this amazing opportunity-a group show with Willoughby Visual Arts

“The current installment for September to October 2026 is titled Home Grown: Surface Tension. This exhibition celebrates local artists with deep connections to the City of Willoughby, exploring complex themes of memory, cultural lineage, visibility, and shared histories.”

Cannot wait for it…thank you 🙏🥰
