The Friends of Lismore Regional Gallery are hosting a trivia night to raise funds to support the gallery's community programs.

Led by Lismore’s trivia maestro Kevin Bell, join us for a night of fun and light-hearted competition to see which table will win the coveted trivia prizes!

The event will be held at the gallery event space, with a maximum of 8 people per table. There are only 8 tables available, so we encourage you to get your team together and book quickly to reserve a table.

Bookings: $20 per person or $160 per table of eight, plus booking fees. Book now via the upcoming programs page of our website.

Whether you’re a trivia fiend, an arts enthusiast, a patron or just keen to have some fun, this event is not to be missed!

Join us at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. There is free and accessible parking available at the rear of the gallery.

Join us for a special NOISY HOUR! Local bands, LIVESTOCK and Leu-Enkephalin are teaming up with Collector and PURE MASS (Greater NSW). Embrace the noise and punk ethos of this epic lineup!

Free, all ages, no bookings required.

Collector is the solo project of Jason Campbell. Pounding rhythms, brooding ambience and mangled field recordings that channel the grit and grime of Newcastle’s steel-working lineage. Pure Novocastrian industrial electronics

PURE MASS is a four-piece from Gadigal, Wangal, Dharug and Wiradjuri lands, playing a brand of heavy, loud, repetitive noise rock/doom

LIVESTOCK are a post-punk band writing songs about extraction, labour and survival. Rooted in perspective and place, their music explores the tensions between industry and the environment. Equity and ethics are central to their ethos

Leu-Enkephalin are a guitar/electronics/media arts duo that explores both improvised and composed methods of practice. Drawing from personal histories, subconscious reflection, situational contexts, and the acknowledgement of ‘incidental’ rhythms, melodies, and textures that perpetually emerge through the intermingling of elemental, cultural, and industrial forms

On now | Lottie Consalvo, 'Horizon pieces', until 20 September.

The exhibition 'Horizon pieces' is a contemplation on the ethereal nature of universally ungraspable phenomena. Across two immersive performance-video works, Consalvo attempts the impossible: to materialise the horizon. Here she compares the endless, enigmatic, perpetual existence of the horizon with that of desire, longing and the human search for contentment. Consalvo says ‘no matter how hard we try, we are never able to comprehend the unseeable and grasp the intangible. But knowing this doesn’t waver our efforts.’

Call for participants | Art and ageing enrichment program.

Fridays, 10am - 12pm, 18 September - 23 October.

Facilitated by artist River Mueller, this award-winning program enriches lives and enhances social interaction for seniors through engagement with the arts and hands-on, creative activities in an accessible, inclusive and supportive setting. Our wonderful volunteers support these sessions and a generous morning tea is supplied by the Lismore Country Women's Association. Participants are encouraged to attend all six sessions and must be aged 60 and over.

This program is free, thanks to the generous assistance of the Friends of the Lismore Regional Gallery. Registration is essential— call now (02) 6627 4606.

There are only two weeks left to submit your entry for the Koori Mail Indigenous Art Award! Entries close at midnight on Sunday, 6 September.

The Koori Mail Indigenous Art Award 2026 is a national award, open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists working in any medium. Artists at any stage of their career are encouraged to enter this non-acquisitive award. Entries are free.

Our guest judge this year is Dr Kimberley Moulton, a Yorta Yorta woman, curator and writer.

Entry forms can be submitted online via https://www.lismoregallery.org/exhibitions/koori-mail-indigenous-art-award-2026, and paper copies are available from the Gallery.

Exhibition proposals for the Jenny Dowell Gallery in 2027 close next Friday, 28 August.

The small but prominent space near the main Gallery entrance is dedicated to showcasing artists from our region. Five artists or collectives will be selected to exhibit in 2027.

With a large floor-to-ceiling, public-facing window, sited on the ground floor, the Jenny Dowell Gallery is highly visible to passers-by and audiences engaging in activities in the Lismore Quadrangle.

Last Saturday's 'School of Dreams' workshop with Manisha Anjali was inspiring and thoroughly enjoyed by an interesting group of dreamers. Pictured here is the group communing with Babette Robertson's exhibition 'And her hallway moves like the ocean', which closes this Sunday, 23 August.

Last days | 'And her hallway moves like the ocean' by Babette Robertson, until 23 August.

'A painting-based exhibition accompanied by preliminary dream drawings, dream texts, engraved objects, and participatory workshops that explore the unstable relationship between inner and outer worlds... Drawing from psychoanalysis, surrealism, dream cinema, and the writings of Freud, Jung, Kathy Aker, and Nicholas Royle, dreams are approached not as private symbols, but as shifting fragments that move between memory, emotion, bodies, and place. Robertson's ongoing transcription of dreams each morning forms the conceptual foundation of the work.'

Coming soon | Lauren Brincat: 'In sequence', 15 August - 1 November.

Please join us for the opening celebration on Friday 14 August, 5.30 - 7.30pm.

Lauren Brincat’s practice brings together sculpture, installation, performance and sound through fabric, movement and collaboration. Her work responds to people and place through participation, collective experience and poetic gestures in the everyday. Often ephemeral, Brincat responds with depth and intuition to create works that fold the community into the ultimate form.

'In sequence' is Brincat’s first major solo exhibition in the Northern Rivers. Featuring a new site-responsive commission with selected works that resonate with its ideas and material concerns, the exhibition will invite audiences to engage with the Gallery and the Lismore Community in new and unique ways.
