The 2026 Lightning Ridge Opal Festival has wrapped up on a high, with organisers reporting strong visitor numbers, record sales for some stallholders and overwhelmingly positive feedback from businesses and the community.

Event Manager Louise Kelly said the four-day festival attracted almost 7,000 visitors, making it one of the busiest festivals in recent years.

The Lightning Ridge Public School are fund-raising to help with the cost of sending the Aboriginal Dance Group to Sydney for the School Spectacular.
They are selling beautiful handmade emu feather necklaces and headbands. Please come and support the kids, it is so wonderful that they are going to Sydney to represent Lightning Ridge!
They are set up today and tomorrow in from of the biggest Marquee, you can't miss them!

Come down to the festival today to chat to NSW Fire and Rescue, The Rural Fire Service and the SES about smoke alarm installation and prepping for the bush fire season ahead.
The kids can check out the Fire trucks and there is some merch too!
