Honouring the resilience and solidarity of generations of mining families ⛏️❤️

Set against the backdrop of the 1984 miners’ strike, Billy Elliot the Musical is a story of courage, sacrifice and finding strength during challenging times.

Our cast of miners are taking a well‑earned “smoko” after a massive weekend of rehearsals and bumping into the theatre ☕️

This weekend brought a special full circle moment and a wonderful reminder of where a love of theatre can take you ❤️

We welcomed back former Lyric Theatre member Josh Gardiner, whose first show with Lyric was Grease in 2007 🕺🏻 Since then, Josh has gone on to perform professionally in productions including Rent, BILLY ELLIOT, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, and is currently touring in The Book of Mormon 🌟

There's something particularly meaningful about Josh visiting our Billy Elliot rehearsals! Like Billy, he grew up in a small country town, discovered a love for performing, and pursued that dream all the way to the professional stage 🎭
