Yesterday we celebrated the 94th birthday of a wonderful lady Decima Pickles . Mrs Pickles was our Deputy Principal during the 70s and 80s and our dear friend and inspiration from the to this very day. Decima supported me in not only my teaching career but in my artmaking and life. She allowed me the creative freedom I needed in order to continue working as a teacher in a structured curriculum. I loved teaching ♥️. I was seconded to write and illustrate books for the NSW Education Department and later for Addison-Wesley Longman Publishers and Environmental Groups as well as Blue Mountains Ciry Council. It was such a joy and a privilege and I thank Decima for seeing the potential in me and supporting me on my way.
