Articulate project space Articulate project space is a not for profit, artist run contemporary art gallery in Sydney N.B. Most artworks are in the low to medium price range. Sydney.

Articulate project space is a not-for-profit Incorporated Association in Sydney Australia that supports an alternative project/ exhibition programme emphasising spatial, critical and or cross-disciplinary art practices. A key concern is the spatial relationship between artworks and their physical location. Articulate is run by a group of visual artists with similar interests and other connections

to the studios in the same building. Articulate project space supports experimental contemporary art - it provides rental space for project development, exhibition & performance. Articulate is especially interested in supporting art practices based on 'idea dictating form' rather than on any particular medium. Articulate does not have a price range for sale of artworks although individual artists do sell work. The yearly programmme of Articulate project space includes projects and exhibitions proposed by visual, performance, sound and other artists, as well as special projects including the 'project space project' aimed at promoting interest in experimenting with exhibition practice. The project space project focuses on relationships between the conceptual processes that go into art-making and art-exhibiting, and also on the relationships formed between artworks and the places where they are made. Articulate project space is located at 497 Parramatta Rd, Leichhardt. Between [Norton] Rofe & Elswick Sts - opposite Cass Bros/ Kennards self storage [orange bldg]. In a world of fragmentation and dissonance, my geometric abstractions seek order within turmoil—translating the turbulence of lived experience into meditative compositions of balance and rhythm.

The Logic of the Square is a body of work exploring the enduring power of the square as both a geometric and philosophical construct. Each painting investigates how the square—pure, stable, and balanced—can act as a vessel for colour, proportion, and spatial tension. Through systematic reduction and compositional precision, the series seeks to distil visual experience to its most essential form, where harmony and disruption coexist.

The exhibition examines the square not merely as a shape, but as a framework for thinking: a site of order, rhythm, and potential transcendence. The repetition of the form becomes a meditative process, a dialogue between control and intuition, rationality and emotion.
Drawing on the legacy of geometric abstraction and movements such as De Stijl, Bauhaus, and Minimalism, the works reference artists like Piet Mondrian, Theo van Doesburg, and Josef Albers, while maintaining a contemporary sensibility.

SUBLIMITY, a solo exhibition by Sydney-based artist Sophia Lee Georgas, brings together a new body of work exploring sacred architecture as material representations of utopia. Through colour, geometry and fragmentation, Sophia reimagines monumental sites as dreamlike, otherworldly spaces between the spiritual and the imagined.

This exhibition celebrates the life, curatorial practice, and professional career of Lizzy Marshall - curator, educator, writer, mentor, and friend.

𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 / 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 draws from Lizzy’s teaching and long-standing engagement with site-responsive practice and art in the public domain: approaches that consider how meaning is shaped through place, context, encounter, and lived experience. Presented at Articulate Project Space - the site of Lizzy’s final exhibition - the project serves as a tribute, a reflection, and an opportunity to come together.

A reverie is a state between reality and imagination; a daydream shaped by memory, feeling, and association. Bringing together artists who collaborated with Lizzy throughout her career, the exhibition presents a series of responses across media that reflect on shared histories, creative exchanges, and the traces she leaves in artistic practice and community.

𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 / 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is a delicate meditation on memory, grief, and the quiet joy of remembering.

Gentle Reminder

Following more than a decade living in Asia, Merryn Trevethan presents Gentle Reminder. The exhibition comprises a site responsive wall-drawing, alongside paintings and sculptures created both in her former Hong Kong studio and her new studio in Melbourne. These works are an accumulation of her perceptions over time, collected fragments of lived experiences. Inspired by the constantly changing structure of cities and considering the uncertainties of human perception in response to the built environment, Trevethan examines how we see, navigate, and record our experiences of urban spaces.

A beautiful and deeply moving afternoon at Articulate last Sunday. 💫

As part of 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 / 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: A reverie for Lizzy Marshall, artists and curator Leo Magyar came together to talk about the artworks in the exhibition, sharing stories, ideas and reflections on the work and its connection to Lizzy.

Sarah Keighery’s performance translated the visual language of her practice/artwork into an edible installation that was shared by everyone.
It became a moving celebration of friendship, community and Lizzy’s enduring presence.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon so meaningful.

Leo Magyar is an emerging curator and recent graduate of UNSW’s Master of Curating and Cultural Leadership. Informed by his lived experience and background in urban policy, Leo’s practice explores the unseen politics of space and the relationship between the built environment and the people who inhabit it.
