It’s been a delight to have The Social Glue of Sydney show reflect a huge array of approaches to collage and levels of experience.

Thanks to lovely .mckenna for allowing us to show 4 beautiful works he made in sessions of The Social Glue - 1 fitted perfectly in our Skulls section, 1 in our Dots section and 2 in our Domesticity section. Included in these pics - tribute to one of Noel’s collages made by our own .scissors yesterday.

Introducing Social Glue artist Alice Crawford , who is featured in our exhibition at Chrissie Cotter Gallery, Camperdown.

Alice Crawford’s practice includes collage, textile art, botanical illustration, photography, and animation. Much of this work responds to the notion of the ‘anthropocene’ and the need for humanity to create new modes of kinship with the other marvellous creations we share the Earth with, but some of it is just for fun.

We have our last group workshop of our exhibition kicking off in 2 hours in the gallery. It’s one of our regular meets, 12-3, every second Saturday, which normally take place in our lovely ballroom HQ in Alexandria Town Hall.

In the card room at Chrissie Cotter, each card represents one person spending 3 hours side by side collaging with us in a Social Glue session. They are a calling card record of our presence engaged in a creative pursuit outside of money and all that comes with it. All these hours of communal activity represented side by side is pretty moving, actually. Those who attend today and make their own cards will join the exhibition in its final days.

Late afternoon light in the gallery, filtered through the chain link of the tennis courts next doors making Dramatic Reactions glow from outside as well as inside.

Dramatic Reactions is a work of heightened emotions, constructed of 4 underlit Perspex panels slotted into a wooden plinth. The artist is Social Glue founder Kathryn Bird, aka

As with many of Kathryn’s works, the genesis is a trip to the source of so many of our works,

The plinth, the perspex and very likely many of the images are Reverse Garbage finds.

Only 3 days left to view this splendid show which takes in so many responses to the medium of paper collage. It’s been a delight seeing the responses of visitors.

Beautiful open making session in the gallery yesterday for World Collage day. The light in here on the gorgeous sunny autumn days is sublime.

We have another workshop on today on altered books from 2.30. It’s timed to work around any Mother’s Day lunches that participants might have planned, so we will be keeping the gallery open slightly later today.

There are still a few financial hardship places available for today’s session we believe - check the Humanitix link via our website

Other workshops coming up next week, or just drop in to cut and glue from Thursday to Sunday 10-4 until May 24.
