Weā€™re getting excited now!

Every year, since 2007, Word Travels runs Australian Poetry Slam (APS) heats and work-shops in over 60 locations across the Asia-Pacific.
Share your words for two minutes on the mic. By throwing your ideas into the slam-ring, you could be chosen as the 2026 Australian poetry slam-bassador and offered an international writers festival tour worth about $20K.
Our APS Heat audience will send one poet to represent Launceston at the Tasmanian State Slam Final.
The top 16 in the country make it to the National Final at the Sydney Opera House on the 25th of October.

FEATURE POET (19th August):

Cathy Blue Tuesday (Cat) is a poet, writer, artist, and teacher from Launceston. Originally from the green belt of Southeast England, Cat moved to Tasmania 10 years ago after following a childhood dream, and immediately felt like her soul had arrived home.
Cat has been writing poetry, prose, stage plays and screen plays for over 40 years, and has 1st Class Honours Degree in English Literature and Language. Cat's poetry is usually confrontational, emotional, and motivated by deep inner exploration and social justice.
