Finding Centre

Finding Centre Dance - Finding Centre - A project by Trisha Dunn Finding Centre will be presented at the Earl Arts Centre, March 20 and 21 at 8pm and March 22 at 6:30 pm.

Finding Centre is a new contemporary dance solo work by Trisha Dunn currently in it’s final development phase ready for it’s premiere at the Ten Days on the Island Festival in March 2013. Trisha Dunn explores the notion of ‘finding centre’ in a deeply personal work that focuses on an exploration of balance – physical, mental and spiritual. Trisha questions what it means to find a sense of centre,

contentment and peace amongst the chaos of modern life confronted with an abundance of choice and opportunity. As a new mother of twins she finds herself juggling a life of conflicting and competing demands and confronts this universal struggle with strength, humour and honesty. Trisha is currently in residence at the Tasdance studio in Launceston with
Jason Lam from Kaboom studios continuing their collaboration from previous developments. Trisha and Jason are exploring the intersection between live performance and the projected image and consider the notion that the set and images become the other performers in the work. This page is designed to not only promote the work but encourage a discourse about themes under the banner of ‘finding centre’ and allow these conversations to influence the creative process. This project is presented in association with Ten Days on the Island, Theatre North and Tasdance and has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body and through Arts Tasmania by the minister for the Arts.
