This October we are heading to New York to explore the boundaries of radio through bouncing waves off the moon with the support of Wave Farm as artists in residence and inaugural recipients of the Rising Tide Award! You can click below to read about all the incredible artists and projects that will be developed through the residency program this year.

We are so grateful for on going support from the Radio and Electronics Association of Southern Tasmania who give us technical advice and inspiration for our work on the electromagnetic spectrum.

Excited to narrowcast another commission!
Emily Sanzaro Emily Sanzaro Tasmanian Harpist is a solo contemporary harpist from Launceston, Tasmania. Emily builds sonic landscapes with layers of sound on loopstation made with the harp in a plethora of different ways. Think hitting drum mallets on strings, bowing, percussive taps, singing into the harp, dreamy reverb and distortion along with plucking the usual way. Emily has created soundscapes for 'Brum Brum' inspired by the vehicles and journeys of Launceston...from the fancy to the s**t box and those in between!

We are thrilled to announce a Brum Brum commission to be broadcast this weekend at β™‘Andrea Breen, a Tasmanian sound artist, writer and performance artist with enduring interests in social and environmental action, collaboration and improvisation.
For the past twenty years she has been developing a practice in generative and interactive processes of sound, word, image and movement, and composing music for dance and radio.

"The four pieces created for Brum Brum radio emerged spontaneously from listening to local Hobart bird calls that popped into my suburban consciousness while playing Bach on my viola. These works are montages, b of recordings of birds, from the Tasmania suburbs and bush, layered with improvised acoustic music, electronic fragments and improvised speech.
Oh, and a crumb fallen off the canon, from one of Bach’s Brandenburg concertos.
Creating these pieces has reminded me how much the here and now is what we have and who we are. What we do with it, and in it, is our infinite, vibrant question."

impudences: viola, ruined piano, electronics, crows, voice, noise sources, sound design and recording: Andrea Breen

randomly absurd: viola, ruined piano, electronics, currawongs, voice, noise sources, sound design and recording: Andrea Breen
