What a Saturday night in Launceston! 🤩

Members of our team attended the Launceston Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence awards at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston. Nominated for Exceptional Event, all of us at the Australian Musical Theatre Festival were hoping to be taking home a trophy, and while that wasn’t the case, a big congratulations to Dorset Employment Connect on their win!

Meanwhile, across town, other members of our team were at the Tasmanian Open DanceSport Championship. Congratulations to Andrew Palmer - Councillor, City of Launceston on an incredibly exciting event — we already can’t wait for next year.

What a pleasure it was to have our two teams unite prior to both events, joined by Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events Roger Jaensch MP.

They discuss their new company, Island to Island and their upcoming season of the award-winning Scottish musical, Islander. A modern fable about finding the strength to face the oncoming tide through connection, resilience and belonging.

After a jam-packed weekend of in conversations, workshops, panels, an unforgettable performance with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and a sold out day at Clarendon Estate, the curtain has officially fallen on the 2026 Australian Musical Theatre Festival.

The Australian Musical Theatre Festival is extremely grateful for the support of the Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania, City of Launceston, and numerous local businesses.

Nancye Hayes AM returns to the Australian Musical Theatre Festival in 2027 to celebrate 60 years since her groundbreaking performance as Charity Hope Valentine in the 1967 production of Sweet Charity.

Uniting emerging artists alongside some of the country's most established names, Sweet Charity promises to be an unforgettable evening celebrating Australia's vibrant musical theatre scene.
