Azteca Horses Australasia Azteca Horses Australasia has the intention to promote, register and stand for the Azteca Horse Bree

Azteca Horses Australasia's Registry welcomes Australian/NZ Azteca horses whose parentage can be verified and who are as close to the breed standard of the Azteca horse of both Mexico and the USA in type and quality. This will allow for dual registration where possible and for keeping a high standard within our Australian registry. We believe the Australian bred Azteca horse deserves more recognit

ion in our country and our focus will be on promoting this breed for its incredible versatility, intelligence and particular suitability for the following equine disciplines: Cowboy Dressage, Working Equitation, Natural Horsemanship and Cowhorse sports.

A little information from our website on these wonderful horses!
“The Azteca is a breed of horse that originates from Mexico. In the late 1900’s it was established by crossing Spanish horses with American Quarter horses and the native south American horse breed known as the Criolla.
The Azteca was purpose bred to produce a horse with the athleticism, sureness, and cow working ability to handle and excel in the demanding work required on the mexican cattle ranches.
The purpose of the originators of the breed was to develop a horse that had all the characteristics, flair, elegance and trainability of their beloved Spanish horse with the added strength, bone and muscle of the cow working foundation Quarter Horses.
They needed a horse that was versatile, strong, brave with a quick mind that was easily trained.”
The Australasian horses also accept registered Paints, Lusitano and Australian Andalusians into there breeding lines...Read more on our website link :)

Hi everyone! Just a couple of things, I know some of you have wanted printed rego forms but at the moment I’m just unable to get those done. If it’s an absolute necessity for some reason, eg required by show committee etc then PM me and I will provide a printed certificate. But otherwise they will have to wait till I have Admin assistance unfortunately!
Also the Victorian AHAA show is coming up in a few weeks at Tatura so this could be a good opportunity for some of our Vic members to get out and show their beautiful horses!
Our thoughts are also with those in the flood areas at this time, I can only imagine how stressful and distressing this experience must be and the loss of livestock and horses incurred is truly awful...there are groups on FB that are trying to provide assistance where possible so get on board of you can.
Take care everyone....Cheers Tamara :)

Hello fellow Azteca owners and breeders. It's important to give your babies and youngsters a positve start in life with correct handling and too expose them to as much as possible in a safe environment. This will set them up for a positive future in the right hands. This is our 16 month old Azteca filly "Silhouette" during some of her education and experiencing day to day life at home. Please feel free to upload your videos or photo's showing what YOU have done to expose YOUR Azteca to life as we know it.

The lovely 14 month old F2 Azteca filly "Nombrado Aztec Silhouette" attended her first inhand clinic with her Daddy "BNT Aztec Gold" who she loves dearly. Silhouette is maturing nicely and has the same inquisitive and gentle lovable nature as her Dad. I can't fault this filly in any way. She is so easy to do anything with. Just like her Dad.

Hello fellow Azteca family members. I thought I'd start another conversation as many of you around Australia have been or are currently in lockdown yet again !!! I hope you are all OK and can spend time with your fur babies when possible. What is something you have been working on with your Azteca or have learn't from your Azteca in the past 6 months. Post a comment and photo or video of your achievements.
I'll start : This is Dante who was my willing student in learning the Spanish walk, in hand and under saddle during the first half of this year, in the second half of the year I will work on the flying change. Your turn 😍

Hello to all our Azteca owners and enthusiasts !!! How many Azteca horses do we have in each state, registered and those not yet registered ? In WA I know of 5. 2 geldings and a mare all registered and 2 weanlings, a filly and a c**t not yet registered. A photo of all our Australian/Tasmanian Azteca's would be a lovely addition to this post for all our breeders, owners, potential owners and interested on lookers. Here are 4 out of the 5 in WA. Please share a photo of your beautiful Azteca, the state you live in and what discipline you do or intend to do with them. I'll add the details of each horse below in the comments.

We are looking for someone competent who might like to help/take over the admin of this page and the online studbook and website for Azteca Horses Australasia. You need to understand the breed and be a current member and owner of an Azteca horse. There is not a huge amount of work currently but someone that would like to be an ambassador to promote the breed through organising classes and shows/sponsorship/promotion etc wold be great! If you have some experience in this area with other breeds or events that’s obviously a bonus but not required. Please PM me if you would like to chat further on this. Cheers Tamara (Admin)
