🌿 THIS PLACE RUNS ON PEOPLE 🌿
For almost 50 years, The Ampi has run on people.
Volunteers. Musicians. Performers. Committee members. Stallholders. Audience members. Good humans who turn up, lend a hand and help keep this incredible community space alive.

Over April and May, together we achieved:
🎭 27 activities delivered
💚 1,200+ people through the gates
🎶 2 Brackets & Jam events supporting local performers
🎭 9 KAST Theatre sessions for children and adults
🌱 9 Eco Arts Festival planning sessions
🛍️ 1 Community Market
🎉 1 major celebration welcoming approximately 700 people
🤝 5 venue hire activities
🙌 More than 60 volunteer opportunities created
📅 4 future events and partnerships currently in development

Behind the scenes we also:
✔ Renewed our insurance
✔ Secured $2,000 towards the Eco Arts Festival through the Mareeba Shire Council Community Partnerships Pathway – thank you for your support!
✔ Selected by Matt Smith MP as a regional nominee for a $10,000 volunteer development grant
✔ Repaired both toilet blocks with support from Mareeba Shire Council
✔ Improved site lighting and Wi-Fi connectivity
✔ Invested in ongoing maintenance and site improvements

Every ticket sold.
Every volunteer shift.
Every rehearsal.
Every market stall.
Every community meeting.
Every chair stacked.
Every stage set.
It all adds up.

For almost five decades, generations of locals have built, maintained and cared for this place. Today's volunteers, artists, hirers, audience members and committee are simply adding the next chapter.

Thank you to everyone who continues to keep The Amphi alive.
Here's to the next event, the next volunteer shift, the next working bee, the next performance, and the next generation of good humans who will call this place theirs.

🦋 Workshop Bio - Wild Pages: Handmade Journals from Repurposed Materials

Discover how everyday discarded materials can be transformed into something beautiful, useful and uniquely your own.
Old maps, forgotten book pages, magazines, packaging, paper and fabric scraps all have stories to tell. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll give these materials a second life by creating beautiful handmade journals using simple bookbinding techniques and creative reuse practices.
No two journals will be alike. Whether you use yours as a sketchbook, nature journal, travel diary, creative notebook or keepsake, it will reflect the stories, textures and treasures gathered along the way.
Along the way, we’ll explore the art of creative reuse-finding new purpose in materials that might otherwise be discarded. And in this process, discover how slow, handmade processes can inspire creativity, reflection and connection to place.
Bianca Velder from WholeArtedly in Julatten will guide you through the process. An artist, educator and community creative, Bianca is passionate about helping people discover the joy of making, encouraging creativity through accessible, hands-on workshops that celebrate imagination, storytelling and the beauty of imperfection.
Perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike, this workshop is a chance to create something meaningful while learning practical skills you can continue using at home.

🦋 Workshop/Artist Expo Bio- Tarina

Tarina-Rose is a Bundjalung Minjungbul woman living on Buluwai & Djabugay lands. She weaves with local fibres foraged from Country. She does it because it connects her to her Elders, keeping relationships with the local plants alive. For Tarina-Rose, weaving is healing. It’s a way to share ancestral knowledge, sit together and let stories unravel with each coil.
